    I'm getting a handshake failure from the client even connecting to localhost when trying to connect to a server on the same machine. I have no firewall enabled and the windows firewall service has been disabled (for testing).

    Here's the error as it appears in the server window:

    Code:
    Info: Reaping client <1> <User: > connection
    Info: Connection received from: 127.0.0.1

    I haven't modified mine - is this a necessity for initial setup?

    Nope, but it's the only thing that should cause handshake failure.

    Have you opened up ports 21015/21016/21017?

    Yessir. I opened all three ports up and forwarded them to the local machine hosting the server. I'm not sure that would have an effect though when I'm connecting to the same machine the server is hosted on. I've tried the local network IP as well.

    Looks like server can't read passwords list from config and met string instead.
    Ensure that "serverPasswords" in starbound.config is array:
    Code:
    CORRECT:
    "serverPasswords" : ["", "password_one", "password_two"],

    INCORRECT:
    "serverPasswords" : "password",

    I am having this same issue with my server. I don't know how to change the port or how to even approach solving this problem. When I try to connect it just says handshake failure and I haven't been able to find any help other than this one page and I'm having a hard time believing that no one else is having this problem. Also, if I need to post an error report, I'm not exactly sure how to do that either. Very new to this game and it seems fun, if I could get my server running....
