Then just find a public server and join it, much easier. The world is HUGE so you can easily not come across others :D

I thought Starbound was going to have its own hosting thing? That was the impression I got... I was hoping for non-complicated issues since my new router doesn't let me port forward.

It's not a correct statement because it should be "Hamachi works as its own server" not what's typed previously.

I wasn't pointing out the grammar mistake, I was pointing out the fact that Hamachi is VPN software, not any sort of server.

Yeah, but in Terraria, they were full of griefers. Glad that the galaxy is a bit bigger.

if starbound supports lan, hamachi will most likely work.

You mean like using your router login and adding a port? That really shouldn't take longer than a minute or two.

Agreed. Most of the time, you can find a guide based on the manufacturer of your router. Signing up for most forums these days is more difficult than forwarding a port, what with unintelligible CAPTCHAs these days:

There's more to it than that.
I wish it were that easy...

Well, it is. Access your router config thingy, find the services, put in the ports (TCP/UDP will do most of the times) and you're done.

    You forgot a step:
Assigning a computer IPv4 to forward the port to.

I hope I don't need to use Hamachi for Starbound. It's one of the shittiest programs I've ever had the misfortune of running, never working, often bluescreening an otherwise stable computer, crashing frequently, and so on. Frankly it's a worthless piece of trash.

That shouldn't be a problem for 99.9% of the world's population. Also there are dual stacks for that.

There are far better alternatives like Tunngle or Evolve.

Depending on your router, this one may actually be fairly easy, again I live in a house that's cluster fucked when it comes to Routers. Most routers will have a menu when you log into them. An option somewhere in there, should be "Attached Devices" you can easily find your PC from this point, and the IP the router has associated with it currently. "IE 192.168.1.4" so on, then in the router, you just port forward UDP/TCP 7777 for "192.168.1.4" which is the computer you want to run the Terraria serevr (Int his example) on, and voila your router is free to be happy and joyous, or you can set your router to a DMZ, though this is strongly not recommended.

    There you go.
It seems easy, yes. But the issue is that most of the people who try to port forward don't what certain things like "Log into your Router" and "IPv4" mean.

    your router*

In case you didn't see my comment, I'm unable to do this with my current router. Why? I dunno.

Also don't tell me I don't know what I'm doing. I've done it for Minecraft and Terraria on a different router.

I won't say anyone knows, or doesn't know what they are doing, as every Router is different, and everyone's network and setup is different, if anyone has a problem portfowarding, I'd be happy to help them get their stuff setup, I need to know what router you use though. Past that I should be able to help you. If oyu're just on a modem with no router, then it's all Windows Firewall
