Britain is also an island, has a quarter the landmass, and has a much lower population, so of course it's easier to deal with those issues.

If America was a hell of a lot smaller, had excellent border control, and a well funded police force, then yeah, ban guns from the general public because in that scenario it would easy to keep guns from entering the country illegally. America has huge swaths of land that cannot be watched 24/7, if guns were banned it would only increase illegal weapon trade.

 

It seems as though gun control might not be the best thing to talk about here on the thread
Bringing up border control might also be a bad idea
EDIT: And if we do ban guns, it'll initiate another Prohibition-type Era! Then future generations will have good era-fodder for their creative writing

 

The real problem is all of these issues are tied together, so it's pretty impossible for them to not be brought up. No argument will ever be correct as it will always tick someone off.

 

I bring up another example using my homeland.

India is home to around 1.3 billion people.

There's an almost equal amount of gun-usage by the police.


However, this is bad for America, because 1.3 billion. And America has a much smaller population.

I don't mind talking about personal issues, but gun issues, immigrant issues, abortion, stuff like that should probably stay out of the thread, since all of us probably have very different ideas on it

 

And a completely different culture. Every argument just circles around, each issue just bleeding into the next. These things cannot be solved at the drop of a hat, and they will take tens of years for them to make any kind of progress on them.

So anyone read Stand Still Stay Silent? The art is hella good and the story is pretty interesting, but the author teases me so by not telling us the full story of what happened. She's probably going to tell that story while telling this one, and it's going to be awesome~
