I came up with a plan to really make one of my story ideas take off; the newspaper one (not Le Croissant) for anybody who knows what I'm talking about. To make this plan, I had two major realisations.

• Newspaper-comic-esque series, are booming, (XKCD, for example) but there are no stories on the web that are built like newspapers.
• Everybody seems to have loved the more down-to-earth part of Le Croissant, seeing people we know in the stories.

As a result, I present my new writing project:

Alternate Newsniverse.

An experiment in "multi-person" writing, Alternate Newsniverse will be a story presented in the form of a newspaper with a number of articles based around events on a central forum. The "alternate universe" of the forum takes the shape of a school, where literally no users are fully human with the exception of one. For those who don't know the original story I was working on, that single human (the main character) ends up teaming with (among others) the school's news leader who reports their escapades over the school's papers.

Next you're gonna say; why a newspaper?

• Web series using alternate media seem to be a big hit. (Nightvale, for example.)
• Choose-Your-Own adventures have grown in popularity drastically, especially when the plot remains coherent. (MSPA, and now, Opee Adventures.)
• Everybody loves seeing someone they know on TV or in the news.
• The forum itself serves a triple purpose; people try to be entertaining and good posters to get into the papers, which attracts more forumers, which makes the series more popular before repeating the cycle.

There are a few major drawbacks, though.

• Due to the sheer volume of writing and design, it's gonna take a while for new issues. Optionally, I could hire more writers who would "roleplay" as other reporters for the paper.
• A whole new forum would need to be built, gussied up and administrated, not to mention having eyes looking out for stories to put in the paper.

For now, I intend to do a dry run of this project over on the Starstucks site. If all goes well, (which Le Croissant says it will) then I'll take the necessary steps to try and make my first proper web series.
