This mod, from my perception, fits really well with the Starbound lore and they fit neatly into the universe. I love their origin and their overall design (aside from those furry and MLP race mods that make me cringe).

However, the textures for the skin seems a little too thick and it makes them look somewhat bulky from their appearance, especially the eyes. Perhaps you could tweak with the textures so that they are thinner and more slick. You can also add some slight shading around the eyes and the ears for a better outcome. Don't let my criticism catch you off guard, you're doing great.

 

Totally digging the constructive criticism! Thanks a bunch for the suggestions, we'll take a closer look at the sprites and see in what ways we can improve them on.

Happy 2nd Birthday Gyrusens. Quite the journey this mod has been through in these past 2 years.

 

I'm having problems with running this mod. When I download the mod my computer can't open it properly because it's a .modpack file and I don't know how to convert it into a readable file. Do you know any fixes to this?

 

Yes, just drop the modpack file in the mods folder and don't do anything else because the game will already be able to read it without any further user investment... That's the fix.

 

I already know how to install the mod, I'm saying that my computer doesn't read it properly because it tries to open it with windows explorer and there are no other programs that I have that can convert it into a readable file.

 

...That's because you don't need to open it in the first place. Modpack files go into the mods folder. Period. That's how you install it. End of story. Drag and drop. Simple.

 

I did all of that. It might not be the file that's the problem actually. When I try to load up the game it says: Fatal Exeption caught: (StarException) Mod 'Gyrusens' is missing dependency 'Airless Dungeons"

I read that in the updates before I downloaded it. I have the mod already installed, but I still get that error. The game runs fine with the Airless Dungeons mod without the Gyrusens mod, but when I put the Gyrusens mod in the mod folder with it I get that error message. Also the problem I'm having with the file is that it isn't downloading as a zip file or folder, my computer keeps opening it with Windows Explorer, and I don't know if it's making the file broken. Probably should have opened with this but I wasn't really thinking about it at the time, I was a bit frustrated. :I

 

Hey! Sorry to hear you're having issues with the mod and the dependencies. If you have already downloaded the Airless Dungeons mod, make sure that it's a folder and only a folder within your mod folder (as in, extract the contents of the .zip and place them in your mod folder). The Gyrusens.modpak should work as-is and should be dropped within the mods folder as well.

If any file is not downloading correctly or opening properly, I do suggest you attempt to use another browser, or perhaps use another computer and transfer the files via USB or cloud storage; this could be a settings issue with your browser/PC and could be interfering with this sort of thing.

Apologies for my absence; my health hasn't been the most stable but I'm picking up pretty quick! Hopefully I'll be much more active now than these past two weeks.

I've been incredibly stumped by this quest lately... Any idea what it exactly means by "look for an ELUSIVE portal"? What I'm trying to say is, can anyone help me with where exactly I'm suppose to go to look for this portal? I'd like to progress the questline, so any help would be appreciated.

So, i found one of the portals to the gyrusen homeworld in a village for the first time, but when i interacted with it, it sent me to my ship, and when i open my navigation console, everything went black and if i tried to shrink starbound it would re-maximize itself, so i had to close the game. Has this happened to anyone else?

 

That's super weird. Like, super-super weird.

Now that Starbound's being updated all over the place, seems it's time I got back to work! I'll check out the portal and see if it's bugging up any. Hopefully it's a one-time thing and won't happen again! Once I get another project somewhat done (or at least achieve some kind of milestone), I'll continue to work on the Gyrusens+ bit by bit!

Edit: So I just checked on the portal today, and it seems to be working just fine. By any chance, do you still have the build before the March 24th update? I addressed a few issues specifically about the Xy portal and the WIP Jyinku mission. Try giving the mod a redownload and run it with that, and see if it still crashes you! The item name for the portal is 'gyrcityportal', in case you want to spawn it in and not have to hunt for another one.

 

are you gonna update the mod with the 1.0 ? (to the workshop ?) because i really love it and i really want to play it
