Gun balance has been the subject of many threads and arguments for a fairly long time (at least that's how I think). Contributing to the debate, I have a suggestion of my own: Simply make guns craftable along with the melee weapons. For example, when you unlock steel weaponry, you'll learn to craft steel guns. Iron guns would be craftable from the start, the only requirement an anvil. Melee weaponry is craftable in 6 varieties, but guns are in 7: Pistols, Assault Rifles, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, Grenade Launchers, Rocket Launchers and Flamethrowers to craft. I figured it would add a bit of variety into the game and make ranged weaponry more easily accessible. Thoughts?
This has been suggested before, with a little more detail than this. You also forgot shotguns. I'm of the (probably unpopular) opinion that guns shouldn't be craftable until around tier 3, but I can understand the appeal.
