Guys you got to admit guns are lame when require energy. Instead have ability to make ammo and thus guns can be stronger just players wont burn through their ammo unless needed. Side remake people who played Terreria don't you prefer their gun style over ours(Starbound)?
Personally never used the guns in Terraria because I didn't want to bother counting bullets, the guns in Starbound are like using magic in Terraria (with energy in place of mana). They just need some further balancing so that they're actually useful, it shouldn't take a full energy bar to kill one monster with a gun from an equal level planet.
Much better idea Energy Weapons and Guns with Bullets in Starbound would be good. Since then again some of us love no ammo but should be balanced by lower damage and high consumption of energy based on power lvl but allow for strong regular guns with ammo that are used for bosses since you never know when you might find a boss on a lvl 10 threat planet and need that energy to dodge.
Energy is fine. A lot of people hate having ammo, makes 'em paranoid. It's also a waste of materials, if you make your own, and pixels, if you buy them.
Some, even if tiered, not randomized, ammo-consuming guns would be nice... Shotgun with crystal bullets, I'm looking at you. Ammo is just another thing that gives you a little bit more customization. I like customization. Who doesn't like customization?
Guns at the moment are ridiculously weak because of their already low damage and high energy consumption, pretty much almost to the point of uselessness. You can kill equal level enemies with two or three whacks of a melee weapon, but a gun will take forever plus your energy bar (which leaves you with none for tech use). If I have to keep guns for enemies, guns for bosses and different types of ammo to manage in my inventory (and muck about with more ammo should I find better/different guns) then, like Terraria, I'm just not going to bother or just mod it out. Guns are high risk as is, using energy used for movement techs and missed shots meaning wasted energy means they should be better balanced for actually killing stuff before it gets in your face. Convenience is key, a lot of people just won't want to deal with stocking up on and changing between various ammo types and having it clutter inventory. no need ammo, but some kind of crystal, len, transformator, that will be change energy for better use. +/-splash +/-rate of fire +/-ammo speed etc
But how would you do that then you need separate slots for weapons like guns and better just to have ammo change those things like Terreria gave you ability to either have high damage bullets or bullets that splash. But then again it would be nice to customize weapons but also making it somewhat complicated for average player.
But if you do that would they would need something to uninstall it as well since there would probably be different ones like ones for splash or for damage.
Please add ammo consuming weapons to the existing ones. I really like to shoot stuff , but prefer to waste energy on other things. Energy for energy weapons, bullets for firearms. Seems fair.=]
