Guns destroying the environment is a brilliant idea and I fully support it.

Using real mining tools will always be a better alternative though, for obvious reasons.

Can we take this the other direction and have a really bad-ass mining pick as a high-end melee weapon? Maybe it has like chainsaw blades or it's a laser pick or something. Mining weapon and boss killer in one!

I look at this, and look at this, and I can not figure out for the life of me what she could possibly be saying. My best guess is laser noises "waa-awaa"

I think this has been mentioned by Tiy before that there will not be mining weapons but I'm not one hundo on that.

Edit: but I do love guns destroying terrain slowly, I just wish it could be faster without then being exploitable for mining.

The idea of guns damaging the terrain is about 50/50 to me. I don't mind huge guns but little guns like pistols cutting down trees bothers me alot.

No one wants to accidentally destroy their house or have another player decide to be a troll. As for the flying saucer doing damage, I'm cool with bosses or environmental things like a meteor being able to do damage. As long as the damaged blocks and furniture and stuff can be picked up and replaced. A giant UFO attacks you, you would expect to lose your roof. The gun thing though better be all glitch.

    Same here.

To me it wouldn't make sense if a laser rifle that pierces through refined awesomium armor couldn't even pierce an iron deposit. Guns don't need to be really good at the job, but there should be some effect.
Hopefully we'll be able to protect our structures the way dungeons do.

This is exactly what I was going to recommend if they are going to have guns able to break blocks loose. the tricky part would be having the invincibility generator target all of the correct blocks, background and furniture would be the most important part to get right.

Another option would be to allow the server to configure whether weapons can break blocks loose. Then if the server has that feature enabled, allow each player to configure whether they want their weapons to break blocks loose.

Given the amount of effort and time that I am sure we are all going to be putting into our fortresses of doom I dont think any of use will want our weapons to break those blocks apart.
