To be badass or not to be badass. That is the question.

Well, glad to know it's simply a bug. Wouldn't want to end up setting my new holographic TV on fire. Wait, how would that even work?...

Why not, if it uses gasoline vapor to project the image to ?

  6. it doesn't...it uses refracted light.

    Off of?
    In some seriously dangerous world.

  8. do you not know how holograms work?
It involves the use of a laser, interference, diffraction, light intensity recording and suitable illumination of the recording. The image changes as the position and orientation of the viewing system changes in exactly the same way as if the object were still present, thus making the image appear three-dimensional.
basically its a bunch of tiny lights making a three dimensional image from some sort of projection device.

You're right, there's no way in which gasoline vapor could cause light interference or diffraction, my mistake.

Edit: Clearly hologram projectors don't use gasoline vapor, I was saying you could probably manage to rig up one with gasoline vapor that would catch fire.

Can there be a high level "mining gun" that IS the ideal way to mine? Because I think it would be awesome to earn your way up slowly picking through rocks just to eventually be able to machine gun them to death.

  11. oh, I see.

Some prototype three-dimensional projection systems use a cloud of particles(water droplets mostly) as a screen to project image to. Not a hologram in its true sense but hey, it looks like those damn holos from SW !

I like that guns do terrain damage, but I think the effect is too widespread/pronounced. It should affect single blocks (unless the gun shoots explosives or something else appropriate) or 3-4 blocks tops. From what I saw in i49, mining will be easier with a gun than with a pick, at least at the early tiers, and that doesn't seem right.

And that was my original concern. Hopefully with all of this discussion/feedback they will take the best route. How we got onto talking about holographic projectors though I am unsure of.

I still think that would be unnecessarily excessive. Something more efficient for mining, (i.e. the Hamdrax in Terraria) is a good idea. I don't know about a mining gun though.

Maybe, but what about SPACE LAZORS.

Well, you could burn the projector I suppose. >_>

Maybe if it's something a bit more... Precise.

As a side note, that would probably also do well as an axe.

It honestly doesn't bother me at all. Then again I love Worms so destroying terrain with weapons comes kind of natural. Honestly I bet they will tweak it. It would be cool if they could implement a stat that affects terrain destruction levels and then add it to the RNG of weapon generation. I'm all for it especially if you're shooting loose ceilings and such.
