After watching the stream and knowing they are still adding things like ocean biomes, I'd say about this summer.

I bet at the end of the year 2013, by December or November. I fully understand and accept that they will not launch the game in a beta state, considering the huge lists of promises of content and gameplay of the game. I would be very disappointed if they released the game broken and yet to add all those nice things they have promised. But I still feel that even flipping the game here a long time, I think I will not have all those things.

 

Since we're throwing wild guesses around anyway, I propose a points system. Each person makes a guess, and after the game is released, their score is 100/(difference between their guess and the actual time, in days). This way, a difference of one day gives 100 points, and smaller differences give absurd scores for all your counting-scores-in-gigapoints needs.

My bet is 17th of May 2013, 17:14 UTC.

This question is beyond the answering capabilities of mortals.

 

I have found out... It will be... the day the earth stood still.

 

I'm guessing March/early April. I've figured that we'd be getting much closer to a release when far more polished content is being shown. Then again, that could happen quickly, if they had most of the game made but just had tweaks, fixes, and a few more facets of the game to decide on (such as the stream discussing what falling sand will do to objects). Because really, since they'll be doing what some other indie games have done and updated more and more content post-release, they don't have to have everything completely finished or perfect. I've never played a game that didn't have bugs or problems.

But to be totally realistic, we really do not know how far into the development the team is. We haven't a clue. And, to top it off, I'm sure that if the team knew they were only a couple of months away from being ready, they'd be announcing this, making it public, telling the world, gaming websites, Steam Greenlight info, all of that. Not just a sudden, "Hey! We're done! Here's the link to buy it!"
