Guess what, I am more excited for Starbound now than ever.

my hype has been lowered for a while now. I still want the game dont get me wrong, but I use to look at the updates everyday...now I look at them every other week and just skin through them.

Yeah, I don't know much about the yogscast guys, but they seemed like they were having fun and I really enjoyed seeing some amateur game play for once.

 

It wasn't perfect, but it was cool, and sometimes cool's good enough. Oh, and it's Cornflakes, Odin's breakfast is Cornflakes.

 

I just thought the "first tier" would be more than that.
Considering the next tiers will be the same as the first with just higher level gear, bigger monsters and a new thing implemented every now and again... o3o

 

THe first tier is the foundation. building up from that will be much easier than making it all from scratch. That's the logic behind tier 1 taking so long to be complete.

 

What?! The Yogscast played for about an hour. It was obviously not a complete playthrough. They didn't even get off the first planet. That's like arriving in the new york airport, taking a look around the terminal, and saying "I thought there would be more here, but because I didn't see it, there isn't.
PS sorry if I sound ticked off.

 

What's wrong with that? That's kind of the point, if I expected there to be more in the airport and there wasn't, I would say so. I... don't see what's wrong with that.

 

The whole thing seems engineered by the devs (I really doubt a boss item would be found on the surface). However, I suppose you are right on the rest.

 

He meant it in a sense of you are going to New York but only see the airport and judge the rest of the city based on it.

Someone like me, who reads daily updates daily, can say that there is allot more content in the game that hasn't been showcased:

The villages, which are a WIP, haven't been shown.(There were some pics of a urban apex village bout a month ago).
Moons, since they didn't travel to any other planets.
The Huge diversity of biomes, which have been shown in a video a while ago.
Oceans.
Randomly generated monsters, allot of them, aswell as randomly generated weapons.
Dungeons, the Avian catacombs and the Glitch castle.

Also, this game has a crapload of items which you can build with, so there is everything but a lack of content.

 

Yeah, from the looks of it the distress beacon takes a bit more time to make so it was put there to have the boss reveal. Part of the recipe is 500 pixels which none of them were close to having even if they put their money together. I'd expect the first tier to take at least 3 hours if you were rushing it. I can see my self spending a lot more time on it.

Plus, I didn't even think about the fact that it'd probably be pretty hard to beat that boss without a gun, who knows how long it takes to craft those as well.

 

What I'm trying to say is... I know there's a New York out there, it'd be pretty awesome, hot dog stands and such, but I expected the airport, as it is the first thing I see coming into New York, to be more impressive...

Just finished watching the Yogscast i49 event and now I am super super super pumped for Starbound! It looks like so much fun! All these haters don't know a great game when they see one!

Im also very excited, just sad that it still feels so so far away from release.
Im even fearing that it wont come out this year

 

Maybe- we've seen some weirdness with the health bar showing 0 bars due to rounding before. Although it did seem like he took a few more hits than that would account for, I didn't math anything.

 

While i agree, i still think that the choice of players was not the best. They just destroyed everything they found. *Shot first, ask later, apply that to the blocks, houses, and basically everything you find*
