Here is a review that might sound like an advertisement, everything to know about the game

    A TRULY OPEN UNIVERSE
Whether a distant mountain or a planet hanging low on the horizon, you can go there. You can fly seamlessly from the surface of a planet to another, and every star in the sky is a sun that you can visit.

Where you’ll go and how fast you’ll make your way through this universe is up to you. It’s yours for the taking.

EXPLORATION IS SEEING THINGS NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN BEFORE
Explore uncharted solar systems and catalogue unique new forms of life. Every planet’s landscape is different from the next, and populated by species never before encountered.

Find ancient artefacts that could reveal the secrets behind the universe.

Choose whether to share your discoveries with other players. They’re exploring the same vast universe in parallel; perhaps you’ll make your mark on their worlds as well as your own.

    SURVIVE ON A DANGEROUS FRONTIER
Every solar system, planet, ocean and cave is filled with danger, and you are vulnerable.

Your ship and suit are fragile, and every encounter can test your skills to the limit. From fighting in space to third person combat on a planet’s surface, you will face foes ready to overwhelm you.

And one mistake could see you lose everything. In Starbound, every victory and every defeat has lasting consequences.

    BUILD FOR AN EPIC JOURNEY
Whether you want to explore and see things never before discovered, or directly set course for the centre of the galaxy, how you play Starbound is up to you.

But you cannot take your voyage lightly. You’ll need to prepare.

Collect precious resources on the surfaces of planets and trade them for the ships, suits and equipment that will take you to your destiny in the stars.

    THE TEAM
Starbound is being developed by Chucklefish, a tiny indie studio in the UK. We previously made the Wanderlust series, but now we’re casting our eyes to the heavens.

And of course I'm talking about No Man's Sky
Just showing how ridiculously similar the game is
I Literally copied it from their Home page and swapped some of the word like the title and the studio name
    Here is the link: http://www.no-mans-sky.com/about/

Don't hate me for saying this but it is true and undeniable that...

It looks better in first person

To be honest tho, It's like starbound but more focused on sandbox and roguelike element rather that story.

Well it is basically a 3D version of starbound.

I mean Tiy could just simply sell his souls and sue the no man's sky and there will be good odds that starbound will win trial

Not very seamlessly. You have to get onto your ship, choose the planet, and wait for the loading screen to finish.

Can we catalogue unique new forms of life in Starbound as a game mechanic?

From what we know, the only secrets we'll be uncovering is about the ancients and the tentacle beasts.

Ship and suit are indestructible in Starbound, also no fighting in space.

Losing stuff is only in hardcore mode, and I don't recall any victory having "lasting consequences", unless you mean that you'll progress faster because you won faster.

Starbound has a centre of the galaxy?

I honestly think that this is an unfair comparison. Like @Kezeal said there are many differences between both games that distinguish them. While Starbound is a RPG and sandbox, No man's sky is more of an exploration and simulator game. Saying that Nms is a rip off of Starbound just because they both feature space travel is no better than saying Starbound is a rip off of Terraria because their both pixelated and sandboxes. Its simply unfair to Hello games who have put so much work into their product.

I remember the "TERRARIA IS 2D MINECRAFT" that went on for years.

I knew you weren't talking about Starbound right off the bat.

"Whether a distant mountain or a planet hanging low on the horizon, you can go there. You can fly seamlessly from the surface of a planet to another, and every star in the sky is a sun that you can visit."

That is not starbound at all.

It got old, and now they found new things to complain about and make up. Like how the new Star Wars is just a copy of the previous movies, or how Star Wars seems like it's the actual Star Wars.

Starbound has seamless transitioning from space to planet? You can travel into the distance to the background hills and city ruins? I don't think so. Its not the same at all.

You can generalize anything enough to the point of them sounding like the same thing, when in reality, they are not even close.

Has this thread just turned into bashing the writer for all of his mistakes?

You should've read what I posted as a response to this topic. He did bring up many points which do not apply to Starbound. The gif would've probably made more sense if you had seen the movie, where he compared Americans and North Koreans.

I have absolutely nothing against the author of the post. It just that if your going to make a strong claim like that you need well grounded facts and all I really saw where baseless accusations. Like I said before I have nothing against him/her but if a claim isn't based in the truth it just leads to rumors, hype, and ultimately disappointment.

Yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeah no. NMS and SB are two different games that just happen to use similar-in-concept settings; a procedurally-generated universe to invite planet-hopping.

What you DO on them is very different.

You might as well claim that Super Mario Bros and Sonic the Hedgehog are the exact same game as Castlevania and Mega Man.

Lichen didn't deny that. In fact, this is what he said in this very topic:

Actually, they wouldn't win a trial. Not just because these "specific" "similarities" are tenuous at best, but because there's decades of legal precedent concerning just "how similar" a game can be from some other game which makes the odds of them winning a hypothetical lawsuit microscopic.

Capcom tried suing games that were "too similar" back in the height of Street Fighter II mania, and failed. There's countless examples of games from different companies that play WAY more similar to games from other companies, but no lawsuits because they'd be a waste of money.

Their similarities are superficial at best. The fact is they play very differently. Just because their generalized description is sorta the same doesnt really hold grounds for much of anything.

Okay, telling you the second time - I agree that they're not the same.
    They are not the same.
    They are different.
The 5th post on this topic is me denying that what he said applies to Starbound.
