It's all over the place. You can't even play the game without worrying that anyone you party with is going to jump onto your ship and take everything off of it. Like just happened to mine. Fortunately I'm all "This is beta and character wipes are coming anyway," but that doesn't mean that the issue doesn't exist.

Something needs to be implemented along the lines of player permissions, or a toggle-able setting that allows you to prevent other players from being able to build/remove objects from your ship, because as long as this issue exists it it going to cripple multiplayer for anyone who doesn't want to worry about their stuff being stolen.

what the hell? This isn't the forum I meant to post this in.

edit: apparently I did, this is where the feedback button leads.

'tis a beta bud, don't expect any type of anti-grief / anti-cheat system any time soon, if they even decide to implement one (most likely users will have to mod the game and create their own for their servers).

Yeah, for now play with people you trust, I´m sure they will make some sort of protection, but my guess is that´s not very urgent.

Edit: there isnt even a way to ban players yet =P

    Three words: The Beta Party.

I thought I could trust the people in my party. We adventured for hours together and it was fun. At the end of the day, all of my crafting stations were gone. Even your friends can pull this on you sometimes.

but you know, nobody. It's the very same in every game. Random anonymous people are the same random anonymous people :)

From what I understand, the devs stated in advance that admin tools/anti-grief tools would not be implemented for the time being. I do believe tools to combat this are on the way though. I agree that the party system needs to be revamped. Just because someone is in my part y doesn't mean they should be able to beam aboard my ship, get past guards, enter my home, etc. I have no doubt this system will be improved.

To be honest, proper friends wouldn't pull that past a temporary joke.

Until security measures are in place, if you're playing with less-than-trustworthy people, I'd recommend keeping your most valuable stuff (i.e. advanced crafting stations, rare ores, etc.) on your character.

Back up your save file for the time being.

Set up a white list for your server using windows firewall or iptables for linux and don't play on public servers till security is implimented.

Guys, "Don't play the game" is not a valid suggestion. I'm playing in this beta in an effort to test as many parts of the game as I can, saying "well just don't play online" is the equivalent of saying "don't test the part of the game you're most interested in" because single player holds almost zero interest for me.

My character files are backed up, I know it's a beta, I am simply trying to provide feedback about what I personally consider one of the most important aspects of the game, if I can't play with random people online because of the lack of griefing protection, I feel that it's an issue that warrants a post on the feedback forum.

I feel that the shiplock should be accessible only by the ship's owner, but any other storage placed aboard should be accessible by anyone on the ship.

I'm not talking about storage, I'm talking about someone literally coming on board and stealing my furniture, crafting stations, et cetera.
