Welcome! And for the asteroid fields, that was already implemented but somehow got lost or removed for some reason. You are more lucky then I am though... I can't find any asteroid fields, although I searched 50+ systems... And I wanted to build there...
Hello and welcome to the forums! As @DragonsForce mentioned, asteroid fields were implemented way before and used to have ores. Recently, they just seem to be completely pointless as nothing spawns on them, neither monsters nor NPC's or dungeons, etc.
Welcome to the forums As dragonsforce said, they've had em but were removed for some reason, idk why. They had buildings last time I checked but that was all the way back in enraged koala and idk if they still have em.
