Grappling hook thoughts

I got a grappling hook and messed around for hours, its really great to me. what do you think about it? i think its weird in that its hard to swing with it and it breaks kinda easily (especially in multiplayer) but it was insane when i was swinging along the bottom of a guys massive custom novakid train ship in a party with a grapple in one hand and a microphone in the other. then a guy broke the block i was grappled to and i fell to my doom. as i stated earlier, in multiplayer it breaks a bit easily, to the point where i could attach it to something and as soon as i moved at all, it broke. but it is one of my favorite features of starbound, and i like how ropes that work similarly that are single use can be crafted early game.

 

I didn't end up crafting mine until after I had some tech, so grappling hook was useless as all hell to me. Also, it was a pain to use to grapple up and around in caves, as opposed to just simply placing or digging some blocks and jumping up or walking across. So given I never used it at all, because it is so much easier to use some of the 6,000 tiles of dirt you have than try grapple up, or use tech you found, I think it's relatively useless. My personal opinion, of course.

 

It's fun, but a bit hard to release sometimes. It cannot be released while still, and is released by pressing space while moving at somewhat high speeds.
Also, if you stand on a platform 5 blocks above the ground, grapple below yourself, hold up until the line turns a single color, then drop through the platform... go and try it.

 

I was able to make myself take fall damage from 2 blocks above ground

 

I love being all spiderman with the dual grapple hooks.

 

I found 2 grappling hooks to be far worse than 1, due to you being unable to contract/extend only one at a time.

 

that is true, and i have not found to many places were it works out well to go dual anyway.

 

I find grappling hooks to be to expensive to be useful at the time you can craft them
though nothing is more fun the flinging your self around asteroid belts with nothing but 2 of them!

 

I really loved it in asteroid fileds. You can use it to slingshot yourself pretty high.

But just gets completely outdated with butterfly or bubble boost techs.

 

I agree, Most fun I had with them was on a Custom Ships mod ship since I could get outside it and swing about. I hope there will be more use for them. Right now a lot of their use would work just as well with the Hookshot style grappling hooks from Terraria.

 

I find they work quite well on a lot of the apex challange courses.

 

It's not a grappling hook as it is so much a bungee cord. Kinda useless.

 

yea, its far to stretchy. it shouldnt stretch just because of gravity.

 

They should add a Zelda style hook-shot.

 

that'd just be the boring old terraria grapple.

I couldn't imagine Terraria with out it's grapple. It prevents me from completely destroying every new cave or area I enter (at least before I get the wings).

 

The hook-shot would likely tear Link's arm out of it's socket. Do you want that happening to your character?
