As of V. Enraged Koala, you can tame them with monster pods. Every version previous, you couldn't. Just make sure to hit it with a weak weapon so as to not murder it!
Not sure yet, haven't found one. I think they fight monsters with you, but you might want to ask someone with more experience (or who has a dog pet in Starbound) about it first.
Well I took the puppy to an alpha planet and I noticed numbers poping up but the monsters wouldn't die, so I thought the puppy was getting hurt, and since alpha planet creeps only have like 15 health I'm sure it wasn't him doing the damage.
If they die they drop back into capture pods and can be taken on your ship. *If you do spawn one on your ship, you will have to kill it with traps or explosives*!
A mod, most likely. There are lots of those if you go to the mod section of the forums and click "Vehicles and Mounts" on the left side of the screen. Make sure it is updated, and be careful. Some of the ones I downloaded wouldn't let me in the captain's chair
dunno if this has been posted, but yes. they do work on ships. I have one hangin' around. gonna try looking for more.
