Good Starbound-esqe games to pass the time waiting

I am so excited about the release of Starbound. I was just wondering whether you guys can think of an good sandbox/building games I can play in the meantime to whet my appetite? Apart from the obvious Terraria and Minecraft. Thanks for reading!

 

Go play with LEGO bricks. And seriously i also could use a fun sandbox game.

 

There aren't that many games out there which really match the Starbound formula - I guess that's why Tiy's making it.
But if you do want to stray from the building, adventure or sandboxyness, there's always King Arthur's Gold which focuses on knight/archer/builder warfare in a 2d multiplayer medieval setting.
Then there's Treasure Adventure Game, which is more platforming adventure.
That's all I can think of for free 2d games.

 

Starbound is a rather unique game, I don't think I found any other games like it =/
You just have to wait for it to come out then
I guess you have to find other types of games in the meanwhile.

There's KAG, which has been mentioned a few times. Free version comes with CTF, which is one of the core modes, really. Buy early and you get zombies, premium hats, access to their servers, and other content soon to come ^-^

There's always Terraria, haha, that's the one I see that would be easiest to compare.

 

Your name... i've been playing minecraft and a little Terraria. That's about it. If Edge of Space comes out before Starbound, you could try that.

 

Darkout is another coming out sometime soon-ish.

Well, i do think there are no playable alternatives, but looky herey:
If yonder would like to pass time, play Spelunky, it's a 2D Treasure Hunting Action Platformer Roguelike. It has a big replay value and a steep learning curve.
CLONK, 2D Mining and Fighting Game.

 

Edge of Space looks pretty nice actually. I would definitely consider getting that.

 

You could of course try Blockland.

 

Blockland is pretty good if you actually have bought it.

 

Yup, it's so good with sandboxy and shit. It also has a good community AFAIK.

 

I just picked up A Valley Without Wind. It's a 2.5 platformer that has settlement building elements as the game develops.

 

I don't know if it's out yet but... edge of space.
Another one of my starboundesque favorites is Cortex Command.

bro start wasting time in old but gold games like hl2 and doom. Is working to me, anyway if you want a good sandbox game. Get cortex command and full it with mods, even vannila is cool
