    In recent science there has been a discovery that planets like ours can only appear in a goldilocks zone that is not too hot, not too cold, just right. We could have planets in the goldilocks zone be the ones similar to ours, closer planets be hotter, farther planets being colder, ect. This may not work it's way in, but it's an idea, right?

    isn't that the way it is already; where hotter planets are closer to the star and colder are further away?

    I don't actually know what the point of this suggestion is.

    I think there's a trend there, yes, but I think a more accurate statement would be "The planets closer to a star experience hotter temperatures." For example, the side of Mercury facing away from the sun is exceptionally cold, while the side facing the sun reaches temperatures hotter than any other planet. It's the atmosphere of a planet that is mainly responsible for its temperature.
