Community Glitch Ship AI Feedback

No sir I don't like it.

 

Could be an inside joke between the devs that they just find to be the most hilarious thing ever. Which is now probably even funnier now that so many people have taken interest or disgust with it.

 

Here are some suggestions that imo would fit better with the Glitch theme:
-a bard
-a jester
-a knight
-a wizard
-a magic mirror
-a royal seal that represented the Glitch monarchy
-a magic sword
-an electric sheep (without tits)

 

Good point. In many ways, "focus group" is actually a more accurate term for this than "community poll". Focus groups tend to have small sample sizes, and the interactions between group members are often as telling as the hard feedback they provide. Also, despite the relatively small number of participants, they tend to include individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds. Since the only thing we all have in common is that we all care about Starbound enough to join the forums, we fit the bill.

honest to god this probably took this guy like 3 seconds to come up with and theyre all a lot better than the horse. I really try to not be aggressive or anything but come on.

 

Magic sword is a really cool alternative. Kind of like -- you're a special Glitch selected by "Excalibur" or some such.

 

There is actualy a interpertation that makes sense,seeing as,I believe it was Meta,but dont quote me on that,since they said that the horse wasnt just some dumb joke,I like to believe this is their interpertation:

Seeing as you are a Glitch within the Glitch theselves,hunted by your own race and killed and re-assmbled,id take it some of the free thinking Glitch would begin to form a sort of a rebelious culture,to say the least,becoming like a bastion of those unwanted,the freaks,La Resistance!(and youl dance a d*ckless jig)

Seeing as you are a distortion of the original Sofware developed for the study of the normal progression of the evolution of a Society and Species,the Glitch purpose,you are something to be exterminated,you are someone who rebels and needs to hide his identity.

Here comes the explanation of the Horse Mask.

Due to your status within the Glitch Hivemind being of a said freak,your A.I. representative should,by the nature of the Character,be unusual,rebelious against the opressing majority,the Hivemind.

The Horse Mask is also interperted as a symbol of Anonymity,Rebelion,all that good stuff our beloved Human Simulator can is doing and trying to achieve,to escape the Hivemind and,perhaps,destroy it an grant al Glitch Self-Awareness.

Some people need to understand,it isnt just A.I. imagery ofr the Lulz,its the symbolicness that comes with it.

A Bard or a Poet dont posses that impact and would be sub-par.

What about some sort of knight or whatever class of people took messages from the king, then relayed them to you? Or something completely different, since the glitch seem to focus on "non-technology", what about a messanger-bird? A crow or a pigeon. If you went with a crow you could even make it poem-y as a reference to edger-allen, it would also allow for some unique flavor text with avians.

As far as justifications go, I'd say you put some thought into this one....but then a Guy Fawkes mask makes just as much sense and is then infinitely more relevant, as both "meme" or in-joke, and as a reference because Guy Fawkes' attempt at revolution was at the tail end of the medieval period...though he was trying to rid one oppressive regime to reinstate an earlier and even more oppressive one.

 

if its a symbol or rebellion they are trying to go for (which making a derp faced horse is still silly an kinda undermines their goal to be taken seriously.) there are many different ways to go about this simple enough could be robot jesus he was seen as an outcast and his ideals were seen are wrong...(could be too religious but meh its not even part of mine i wouldn't see a problem) or even use joan of robot arc

 

There is mod already changing it

 

There was already a point made that stated that mods could be unreliable. A version change can render the mod useless, or the author can even abandon the mod.

Better to have an alternative in the base game.

 

Your comment clears up ambiguity surrounding the horse AI, thank you. I'm not a great fan of the horse AI, but I'm not really against it either. As long as the story reflects what you said, then the horse is relevant. With that being said, the game needs to make sure that you know that information beforehand, or as time goes on. If it doesn't, then the horse AI is essentially a burger at a sushi restaurant. It feels that it would be there for no apparent reason, especially because of the fact that breasts are slapped right onto the horse's chest for no apparent reason other than to be silly (I love silly things! But I feel that there is a right and wrong time for silliness). Not just boobs, but boobs with cleavage. Half of the population in the world has boobs (probably more thanks to McDonalds), so that's nothing to worry about, but they seem unnecessarily showy, know what I mean? You can make yourself almost naked in the game, no complaints here, but you do that yourself. It's not like the default outfit is near-nudity.

All that being said, a Robin Hood themed AI would make sense as well.

 

I had the same thought. If their intent was that the Horse Mask represents rebellion, then Guy Fawkes is so much more poinginant and appropriate of a symbol, by a long shot.

As is Robin Hood.

 

I really like the idea of being kind of part of a new sort of rebel branch. I'm not sure I like how it was went about.

 

By the way, the poll, at this point, is 35.7% vs 31.2%, meaning a difference of 4.5%. It is now officially statistically significant, for the first time. It is still not significant enough, given the margin of error, but it's no longer "neck and neck" as it has been.

Well,the Steed perspective of a medieval Knight justifies the Horse and sorta puts Guy Fawkes in a bit of a good idea but inapropriate.

Seeing as many a warrior use their steed,wich in normal cases is a Horse,Steeds are usualy associated with the Female Gender and seeing as the Glitch "Ride" their ships into the Stars,Horses just kinda are a tad more apropriate Lore Wise than Guy Fawkes.

As for everyone else,I hope I gave you a new perspective!

i hope the devs dont ignore anyone and both sides gets something instead of only one side that way EVERYBODY can be happy.

 

Like was said before; the numbers don't really matter here. There are just way too many who will never see this poll to vote on it. It's the feedback that counts -- and the devs can refute or incorporate it as they see fit.
