Community Glitch Ship AI Feedback

Just to interject, this is the first time the "no's" have pulled ahead since my creation of the thread.

 

When I played the game, I personally liked the Glitch a lot. Probably because their serious robotic appearance matched how most people viewed me. A friend I played with remarked how well the "serious" personality pose fit me.

Which is why I don't like the horse-lady AI. While I do enjoy having some silly fun "e.g. Team Fortress 2's Conga update", I like being able to return to something more normal and respectable. Which the horse-lady AI doesn't really fit into.

I understand that a lot of people like it, but just as many people do not. Perhaps there should be an option to choose the ship's AI appearance, so both sides are satisfied?


As for the people who continue to say "you can just mod it", I can bet that a fair amount of people do not mod their game, at least not until they've felt they've experienced the game as it was designed and meant to be played.

That said, I'm not gonna spew bile everywhere if the horse-lady becomes definite AI for the Glitch. I'll just continue to sulk in my corner and regret impulsively buying an incomplete game.

It's still not statistically significant. An increasingly small sample size means an increasingly large margin of error. The size of the sample doesn't matter so much in the overall scheme of things, but the margin of error does get smaller as the sample size increases. While it might be true that those not included in the sample have wildly divergent viewpoints to those who are included, with every sample added, the chance of that goes down. In this case, how likely is it that everyone who hasn't yet voted Really Loves the AI? Or Really Hates it? Not very. And thus the poll shows, very correctly, that people are divided on the issue.

What is extremely significant is that next to nobody is near the middle on this. People either love it, or they hate it. Or they love that people hate it, and seriously we don't need that kind of sentiment anywhere near this issue, it's already divisive enough, as it is. Everyone has very strong opinions on it, so far, that has voted or commented on the thread.

If it has the googly eyes and buck teeth, I'd personally still be strongly against. It's the "resemblance" to the horse head mask meme that is so tremendously off-putting in my mind, not the breasts.

 

It was closed. I brought it back because there were still a great number of different people who never got to participate in the discussion here. The original group of posters kind of burnt out on their own points. Some newer voices have given newer perspectives in regards to feedback. It will remain open for the weekend, or as long as it remains to be a civil area of conversation.

 

As I am writing this post,aprox.338 people have poted their opinion on the suject matter.

How many players are there in total in starbound,that bough the game?Atleast,what,almost a million?

We have to consider that this lil thread and the opinions of the thread are kinda poitless,if the sampe is of 1% of the entire population.

Its meaningless to say that the majority of 1% prefer chocolate over hard candy, since it is 1%,not even 20 or 50%.

For the opinion polls to be actualy reliable,this would need a lot more people voting on it,wich arent(not even a considerable number of purchasers even have a acount here,soo,yeah)

I honestly believe it's because a lot of people who have the game aren't aware of it. I have a few friends who have put it on the backburner to wait for a major update or 2 before they get into it again, and I myself only heard about all of this yesterday

i personally think people would start coming around to the current a.i. (myself included) if it's face was less derpy cover its teeth and give it eyes that dont look dead i would have 0 problems i could ignore the...other parts of it. although they were joking if they did decide to give all races animals with boobs why couldn't they just fix its face

 

pretty much this. And as the important edit states in the original post -- the numbers don't matter. It's the feedback this thread is after.

 

Hm... how about an AI which is the counterpart of the hero? So e.g. a female Floran would get a male Floran-ish AI and vice versa. Plus some funny AI's to pick from.

 

i like this idea different personal a.i.s a normal one serious one a joke one etc hell the floran joke one could be audrey two!

 

I like this. We may have completely different opinions over the AI itself, but we can still agree that opening up more options to players is the best way to leave this debate behind us.

Compromise is the way forwards here. Here's hoping that the devs recognize that.

Sure it's not 1% of players, but that doesn't mean it's not a pretty damn telling focus group.

 

I'm not entirely sure -- but it probably also helps that this poll is stickied, tied to "Community" prefix, and is open on a weekend.

I really do like seeing all the different perspectives that have come from even a "small" group though.

 

Certainly not. This is the largest I've seen in such a short time.

And people keep saying that it's not even 1% of players, but honestly, how many games that you've bought have you frequented the forums of? How many people have bought this game and stopped playing already, got bored, or are waiting for it to be completed before they come back. I can name 5 people that I know in real life that have bought this game, and I'm the only one that actively plays it, at all. One friend was really shocked that I was actually playing it, since he'd given it up months ago (he buys every game known to man and plays each for maybe 10 minutes before getting another one). This game may have 1 million sales, but it certainly does not have 1 million active players who frequent these forums at any regularity.

What this poll shows is that everyone who frequents the forum and noticed this thread has a strong opinon. And yes, it's pretty damned telling that almost nobody seems to be "meh" about it, rather, extremely opinionated.

 

I just dont understand why they decided on this AI design? The other ones seem to make sense, this one is just silly and honestly a little bit lame. I dont mind funny things but...Its just not very funny?
