Correct. The "slow movements" are really just part of the description. Not really meant to be integrated into gameplay. Also just realized the Gillian's scientific name lacked a translation. I shall fix that...

A great Idea! I think you will have even more freedom in this game than you had in Terraria! One question though, the game is said that it starts off with the player's home planet blowing up and the player going into a abandoned space station. But if the Gillians live in the water, how will they make do in a air filled space station
Because the Gillian are an aquatic fish race, couldn't there be different types of Gillian, such as a Catfish Gillian, Flounder-Gillian, Clown Fish Gillan, etc.?

I would at least like to have a Gillian as a sidekick. I love the look of these critters. I liked the Koi Gillian, so I think some other alternative Gillians should be included, not just different patterns. Perhaps these creatures could have different heads when customised. I would at least like to see Catfish and Dogfish varieties.
Oh boy... here we go again. Next stop- Minor Clans playing as dog/cat-Gillians at war with each other.
