I'm not sure that any of these precautions work any better than crossing your fingers. It might be a case of random is random and, until we get more information on the planet scanner, we'll just have to explore and what happens happens.

(Although, I hear that if your planet has purple dirt, it is more likely to have meteors. :cautious:)

I JUST saw this for the first time last night! I actually really like those!

My starting planet seems to have zero weather. I've spent many hours on it and I've seen nothing. It only sometimes get's a little cold at night. So maybe?

    My first Playthrough,

I spawned and made a base unsuspectingly, on a plaent plagued with METEOR SHOWERS.

I had to go underground rather fast. And keep the topsoil lush becasue it was contantly destroyed.

Now, 2nd time around, NO METEOR SHOWER planet for me. Got a High tech pyramid as a base haha!

HAVE NOT, encounter the LARGE METEOR. As stated.

Me too. Like if I found a planet that had that regularly, I'd call it home.

When I get home I can give you the coordinates to the planet I found it on if you'd like. It was a desert planet.

Haha, totally agree. And I'd absolutely except that happening playing on "Hardcore" mode. But normal mode, for casual players...oi vey.

This is what I do. Or the last house I built in the side of a mountain. It's pretty awesome.

From what I remember, all meteors (showers and gigantic balls of doom) come from the top left corner of the screen.

So...I hope you built your home in the east-facing side of a mountain...

I had no idea they spawned from the LEFT! just never paid attention to the Spawn.

Now I know to build right. Great Tip.!

However, now I usually build on my ship until I can goto a High Tech Pyramid. Great Pre built structures with a Gravity Well.

To be fair, when it's raining moons on you, the only direction you care about is AWAY!

While it might be a bit... uncomfortable, I like them very much, even on a Starter Planet... It's wonderful and gives you something to "combat" even early on and just think of it... you left your people, willingly or forcefully, land on a Planet and BAM Meteors :D That's bad luck!

How exactly do you "combat" meteors? Unless you're Chuck Norris I mean... the giant ones can literally blow through anything you can come up with, short of a 100-layer thick wall of dirt.

I really don't know how this whole world seeding really works and whether or not your planet at this coordinate will have the same weather mine did, but this is where I found that cool twinkling light rainfall:

    X: 49990025
    Y: -99529973

I dunno I never followed anyone's coordinates  It was a large desert planet with a smaller snow planet next to it.
