Please, tell me of this major content that has been added since release. Patches on their own aren't content, and nightlies don't count because they're unplayable. Keep in mind I'm not saying there hasn't been any patches in nine months, but I'm not seeing much aside from bug fixes, rebalences and holiday hats. If I missed any major content additions please correct me.

See now you're changing your story again. That's ok, but what you initially said was just plain untrue. If you don't consider the updates that have happened to be major, that's your prerogative, but don't flat out say that there haven't been updates., and the Nightlies Do count as having added new content. Just because you think it's unplayable content doesn't mean it isn't there.

I'm not going to discuss with you about whether content updates were major or not, that's up to each and every person to decide for themselves if they consider something to be major or not.Just please keep your statements truthful.

The wording were wrong. No significant updates in perspective of that CF plans were before EA started. 3 phases and all. In this context and in comparison to other major, big and successful EA products SB progression after it's EA campaign start looks quite pale. They were some additions, some work were done to gameplay mechanics - which were the still in basic form, some new mechanics were shown (like pet system), new biomes, weather effects, blocks, rails, and that else?
And yet again, i can't accept nighties as measure of progress.

The update will be done when it's done. The front page news shows what they're working on, but regardless of how they approach the situation people are going to start screaming about how they've been violated in some way. Is it really that bad? Just do something else with your time. Surely we all have things we could be doing instead of hitting refresh on the front page while slowly turning red. I know I do - I should be working

I don't really care about the update by now. For me the nightly build are working fine.
I'm enjoying it because it fits my style of playing. (and because I have a rather simple mind in such cases)

Thing is: A lot of people aren't like this. There will always be those whining about EVERYTHING, whether things get done or not.
I don't care about those, still they annoy me to the point of wanting to shut them up the hard way.
But as @Ricinulei already stated: Do something else to kill the time. Just the way you do everyday.

Wait... are you contending that excessive amount of complaints and negative reaction directed at Chucklefish are just the normal amount of negative reaction for any game and in no way reflects Chucklefish's performance during their Early Access Program?

Because I wouldn't most definitely have to take issue with what amounts to completely absolving Chucklefish of doing anything to earn the ire of their customer base.

Just to be fair @Dust, if you read the patch notes for the stable build, the April updates do not add any content. They just added fixes. Don't take this as rude or anything, just letting you know.

Even if Chucklefish's performance during their Early Access Program would have been great, there still would be people whining around.
But regarding this: I wasn't with starbound from the start so I can't really say something to this (or at least I don't know what to say)

I think it's normal for any game to have negative reactions, even have a higher amount of them and it does in some way reflect the developers' performance but the core of the negative reaction might be people who don't like the game or are not satisfied with it's content (be it not enough or too much).

As much as i argee with you, i have to point out what "amount of complaints and negative reaction directed at Chucklefish" is directly tied to:
    A) amount of hype around SB It's not only: "ppl just let their imagination go wild and invent some perfect game impossible to create",as some ppl are trying to present it, but Devs themselves threw too much coal into hype train and weren't able to meet it with actual product afterwards (IMO, as we can see, some ppl can accept something close to "tech demo" - Tiy's own words - as amazing game).
B ) Amount of ppl who bought SB. As no other EA attach so many customers, AFAIK. More customers in general - more dissatisfied customers in sheer numbers (actual percentage may be similar to normal values) and, sadly, more trolls and loons on both sides of community.

I would invite you to have a look around
DayZ has sold more copies than Starbound, at a higher price, and released around the same time. It has its share of negative reactions from people, but nothing so overwhelming like Chucklefish and Starbound. No, Starbound and Chucklefish's problems come from a combination of next to no new content since release, terrible PR work, stiflingly overzealous moderation of official channels and developers who never admit their own shortcomings.

Starbound truly is the perfect storm of Early Access anger, to compare it to other games is to sell short how truly awful Chucklefish has been at game development.

Don't you guys think you've contributed what you've needed to this thread? We all know your opinions now (which is what the OP asked for) -- everything your doing from this point on is picking fights and arguing with those who don't agree with you. And what calm discussion you ARE having on your opinions still isn't what the thread is for. It's sent the reports circulating around this thread through the roof. I would find (or create) another thread more suited to your opinions and discussion points.

To be fair, people do continue to respond to them, which is why they continue to respond back

I think your advice goes for both sides

  13. Everyone can take the advice, but those two in particular. The reports for them individually are doubled (almost tripled) the combined reports for everyone else in this thread. And I don't want to warn EVERYONE for technicalities just because everyone's tempers are flared.

additionally -- if things continue to delve into off topic complaints, arguments, and reports -- I'll have to lock the thread anyways.

I shared my opinion and people took issue with it, so we had a discussion about it. Every post I've made has been in response to someone commenting on my earlier opinion.

Yes, people report opinions they don't agree with as disruptive. It is unfortunate, but it'd be nice if you didn't take it out on me and instead took issue with those who were improperly using the community moderation tools we have been given.

  15. I don't want to derail the thread by taking discussing moderation or reports, but no one's so far reported improperly -- the issues so far aren't with your opinions, just how you're presenting them. You're also not being picked on so much as you're being given opportunity to save yourself the trouble. Discussing opinions are fine and everything, but at a certain point -- when taking on a life of their own, it's best to put that discussion toward a new or existing topic FOR that sort of discussion -- as opposed to derailing the thread originally being posted in.

You also have the option of taking things to PM

Yeah, but i'm starting to get bored ( i get bored of games pretty fast, so i cycle through them pretty quickly) I'd honestly love to see more of the SAIL quest fleshed out so i dont have to cheat in larger sized ships and crafters , but i do love the new dungeons the lunar base was fun to run through when i wasn't in godmode, and i could get about half way through if i dug down a certain portion so i didn't have to walk as far

"I check in for news or hang out around the forums, but that's about it"

But I honestly should stop, because every frequent visit is pretty disappointing, in both Dev communication and mods gone wild. Really @Madzai @Hefeweizen need to contribute more because seeing 82 people select the same opinion lets us know theres alot of people waiting that are not vocal who also may not be happy with the pacing of things.
