good idea, but why not maybe let the ship stay stationed where you left after beaming down to the planet and you can only beam up to your ship in the same area where you came from the ship, without giving the chance to scape from bad situations if you are further the spot from where you beamed down and if you are really far away and dont want to walk back to that spot from where you came from you have the option to call your ship to the above spot you are, like said over a town you just find out and move the beam up spot to the same location you are standing and that will cost fuel because you made the ship moe to that spot as requirements. If applied to multiplayer you will have 2 different beam up or down spot depending on which location u fell from your ship. its just an idea

George! I love the idea and they way you've made it work. It was neat seeing it being created from the story board all the way to the finalized HUD. Looks great and over all a great idea.

The UI looks good so far. I'd like to see a separate section for repairs to the ship so things were less linear with that though. If it's bashed up at the start and hardly any of the systems are functional then it'd be nice to be able to choose to repair the systems individually with different requirements for each. Then, once they've been repaired with base level materials, they could be upgraded further with stronger and more resilient materials as you gain access to them. For example, focusing on one system could give you advantages in that area alone, and you'd get different advantages by focusing on another system. Eventually as they all get repaired you'd have a nice balance across the board. Later on, random events like hull breaches that force you go get off the ship before you suffocate until the hull is repaired, asteroid storms that damage systems until the shields are repaired, etc could provide a sense of urgency with repairing the systems that would stop those things. Sorry, went off on one a bit there. The point is: repair hull & thrusters button would be better as a damage report button.

ETA on the progression update? (Not looking for date, more like an arbitrary % of what you'd be happy with releasing) Really looking forward to playing again but after maxing out my character in a weekend, I need something a little more challenging and long-lasting.
It scares me. Can you make it look more like HAL 9000-ish? Then it wouldn't be so much in the uncanny valley.
