Greetings. Love the game, etc. Let's cut to the chase: Keybindings: I'm sure this has been said a lot. Special slot for flashlight: Flashlight should have its own quick slot that can be accessed with "F" (default). Search Bar/Craft Window: The focus on the search bar is undesirable when the window first loads. Hitting the designated button "C" should close it again. Window placement: Windows should remember where they were when closed. Unless for specific reasons. UI Scaling: Zooming is awesome. Kudos on that. Perhaps some UI scaling would be nice. Inventory Quick Delete: When I want to clean up my Materials 'bag' I spend a lot of time dragging and dropping. A shortcut key combo to send the item to the dumpster would be great. SHIFT + ALT + RIGHT click perhaps. If you're concerned about players being dumb, have this disabled by default and let players turn it on. Music: This is getting out there, but I would love to see a simple text editor for the ABC files, with the ability to click a reload button to reload your musical changes. This would work super well with Steam since we have access to an in-game browser. Being able to add music in-game on the fly would be very awesome. Especially for those who edit ABC files raw. (Like me) Star Charts/Navigation: Planets should let us see how many times we have traveled there, perhaps a thumbnail screenshot of the landing zone. A lot of these planets have to be documented, and right now pen and paper is great but something in-game to help identify them would be nice. Star Charts Bookarking: X/Y Cords for planets/systems should have a bookmarking system so you can return to them, instead of writing them down for future use. - The next stuff is item related and just personal thoughts. - Buff Stones: 1) The stones should never instant kill a player. 2) The stones should have a chance at applying these buffs or debuffs below: - Attack Up - 90 seconds. - Defense Up - 90 seconds. - Speed Boost - 60 seconds. - Jump Boost - 60 seconds. - Max Health - Health Regeneration - (7 Health per second over 10 seconds) - Mine Up (Faster mining) - 90 seconds. - Glowing - 90 seconds. - Chance of 1000 pixels. - Defense Down - 90 seconds. - Attack down - 90 seconds. - Speed down - 60 seconds. - Heavy - 60 seconds. - Burning DoT - X damage over 30 seconds. - Paralyzed - Disable action use - 30 seconds. Bandage Upgrades: Change bandages up for cost/use. Bandage Level 1: (4) Fibre (1 HPS/10s) Bandage Level 2: (1) Iron Bar + (1) Fabric (3 HPS/10s) Bandage Level 3: (2) Silver Bar + (2) Fabric (5 HPS/10s) Bandage Level 4: (2) Gold Bar + (2)Fabric (7 HPS/10s) Bandage Level 5: (2) Platinum + (2)Fabric (10 HPS/10s) Musical Items (If not already in the works): Local .abc record player. Planet wide .abc record player. That is all off the top of my head. Love the game so far.
Was about to write my own post about this, but yours sum up pretty much everything I have. Other suggestions: Add tooltips on character stats: When hovering the mouse over the "heart", "lightning", "sword" and "shield" icons on the Inventory screen, there should be a tooltip appearing explaining what they do and how. I'm still not sure what the "sun" icon means on armor. Is it temperature? Then it should look the same than the new red temperature icon. Add option to delete characters on the character selection screen: Self-explanatory Add tooltips / explanations on why the user cannot use the 3D Printer: 3D / Pixel Printer requires pixel to assimilate an item, but if I don't have any pixels it'll just fail silently. It could help if there was a "gold piece" icon for pixels near the actual pixel amount when adding an item to make people understand what it is. Also, don't call a same feature with two different names; either call it the 3D printer or the pixel printer, but not both, this is confusing. (called "Pixel Printer" in the window header but "3D printer" when selecting it from the ship menu). Don't allow users to move items into the Furnace output: Should only be possible to move items out of the output icon of the furnace, not in, since there's no practical use for that. Add option to duplicate / build shiplocker: Please allow us to take it out, replicate it at high cost through the Pixel Printer. Improve NPC AI to destroy blocks: Some mobs should be able to destroy blocks to reach the player when attacked. The rate at which they destroy them could be tied to their difficulty / strength / type. It's very easy to exploit bosses and mobs by trapping them around blocks at the moment. For example I'm currently on a level30 planet with level15 armor, trapping mobs in cobblestone before killing them with long reach 2-handed axe / spear. Double-check Platinum spawning: It seems Platinum doesn't spawn in the range of planets where it should (15-25). By looking at planets rank 30 there is plenty of Titanium to be found, but no Platinum around. Platinum also is required for the "Platinum Greaves, Chestpiece, Helmet" before Titanium is needed for the Pioneer's Set, which makes me believe something is odd there (or maybe I've been unlucky at finding Platinum in the first place ). Increase show consistency of the hunger bar: It seems the hunger bar doesn't show as often as it should. It sometimes doesn't pop-up until I'm 2 steps away from dying from hunger. Allow users to drag sliders in the options: When trying to adjust the SFX and music my first reflex was to try and drag the grey button on the slider, please add the option to do that as it's a lot faster and more intuitive than to type the number or press the little arrows. Add shortcut for Teleport: Self-explanatory. Change the game taskbar icon: When launching the game the penguin icon is the same than the Starbound Launcher, causing me to be confused and not knowing wihch one is which. Maybe change one of the two? Cannot go back in the game when alt-tabbing: For some reason when alt-tabbing out of the game and back in on a dual monitor that causes problems to resume playing. I have had to press CTRL+ALT+DEL to cause the Task Manager to appear before I could resume playing somehow. Add a separate animation / sounds when using bandages: It's kind of funny, but slightly disturbing that my character actually eats bandages to heal himself May I recommend a separate animation and sounds for that? Hope that helps
Trying to drag the sliders was my first move in that UI. It bugged me that I couldn't do it, so I joined the forum. Also, while crafting items (for instance, a stone furnace), you should be able to hover over the item, and get a tooltip or bubble describing the function of the item you are about to craft, and perhaps display the items it can be used to create.
