I would like to mention I'm new to these forums, so if anything similar to the ideas I include in this thread have been posted before I didn't mean any harm, I just didn't know about them beforehand.

Counting the player there are eleven marriage candidates, so no matter who ends up with who someone is always going to be left out alone. If a new marriage candidate were to be added they could compensate for this by being the next choice for whoever the partner of the candidate the player chooses to be romantically interested in would be. Maybe they could be a rival farmer or a Joja Mart worker that moves in at about the same time the player does, is the opposite gender of the player, but will not be romantically interested in player.

This may not be a long term intended feature but at the moment it is possible for the player to become the girlfriend/boyfriend of every marriage candidate even after marrying. It would be nice if after marrying one of them all the other candidates would realize you're not single anymore since everyone in town witnesses the marriage (except the Wizard), refuse bouquets of flowers, and then pursue a relationship with their respective partner. The content for marriage candidates seems a little too limited to giving them a bouquet.

I've noticed after marrying someone if you give other marriage candidates a gift they can become suspicious of you or jealous of the gift receiver and your character will lose friendship with them. Maybe if there were two meters, one for love and the other for friendship, and could be increased independently of each other by unique means, then the actions of the player that will be punished could be distinguished. This would also allow maximum friendship for all characters without it necessarily resulting in love.

In my opinion the social system feels fairly one-sided and it seems only the player's character will actively try to increase their friendship with others by means of gifts or talking. It would be nice if the player could have a birthday and receive gifts from others in the town when talking to them, just to show they are willing to become friends too, and maybe then the favorite item selected at the start of the game could show up as an item saved for them or the gift could be an item relative to the profession of the giver.

Furthermore, if citizens in the town were to receive gifts on their birthday from other citizens it would be a nice hint of the best way of increasing the player's friendship with them. Also if this were to be added it would also be interesting to see the other characters hold the gift, give it to the recipient, and then be given a reaction of how much they like that item. This would allow players to get an idea of what that character likes or dislikes instead of using a trial and error system of giving gifts themselves which can be tedious with the two gifts per week limit.

        Some great ideas! Kudos!

I know the player birthday one has been touched on in another thread-- just another testament that this is something the players really seem to want!

Since I haven't progressed far enough in the game to be friendly enough with anyone to become romantic with them I had no idea about the fit issue you mentioned... how frustrating!
