Is this some double sided anime joke because I don't get it lol...

Well that wasn't my point of concern, I just didn't want judging to happen because of a certain type of avatar.
No I just assumed he thought because they had an anime/game avatar, it's no wonder that person seemed ignorant.

That sort of thing can happen regardless for the same reason people can be judged on a kind of T-shirt or what video games they like to play. They are expressions and expressions give inferences to personality.

For instance most people think my personality is pretty rotten since I usually don't say anything unless I have an objection, precisely the opposite of what I ought to be doing.

  4. Evangelion

Whether the judgement happened or not isn't the case, it's just a pretty stupid assumption to make- IF, one truly thought that way.

I assure you it is not the only factor I use to determine someone's general personality.

I hereby secede from this conversation and form a new topic. We should add Flaming Rat-Turtles to Starbound because I would like to play as a Flaming Rat-Turtle.

Flaming Rat-Turtles are getting beaten and abused over in Africa don't you know!

It'b a sad world if the intelligence of someone could be found out through their internet avatars.

On a completely irrelevant note, I believe that the "sign up" and "sign in" buttons should be switched in places. Too many I time I have pressed the big green button, hoping to sign in, but actually signing up. It deeply saddens me.

We'll if I have a picture saying that you can walk from America to Africa as my profile picture, I'm pretty sure people would think I'm mentally challenged

But in all seriousness, how about dem turtle rats

I'd just take it as a joke, I mean...
    But yeah! Turtle... rats?...

As if your comments are worth reading? Why are you posting here? If you aren't interested in the topic, and you aren't interesting in speaking in a civil manner with others, gtfo.

You've misunderstood the suggestion entirely. There is no mention of adding a transgender option anywhere. I seriously don't even know where to begin with your dumbass comments because there is literally no cohesion between the ideas that you are trying to formulate. Oh, here's one:

No one is asking for special treatment. At all. You don't mind if transgenders exist? As if anyone needs your approval. Get over yourself.

Keep the comments on topic. Or leave.

Obviously they are, or you would not have replied now would you smart boy.

Grow up and get some thicker skin; I wasn't even talking to you or about your suggestion. The topic went elsewhere and I followed. Even better, we have since moved past this LGBT nonsense, and the only one still bent out of shape over it is you.

Tell me to grow up. On the Internet. How thought provoking.

You weren't talking to me, but I am talking to you: if you don't have anything useful to contribute, and you're just going to be a dick, leave.

    • Keep it civil.
Oh I'm so humbled by your macho overreaction. Have mercy, great orator!

Your suggestion has already been run into the ground (-31 at last count) for pretty much the reasons I've given: "support LGBT" is a joke, and not a good one.

Passive aggressive ad hominem attacks are still ad hominem attacks.
I think some people on both sides need to stop arguing for the sake of it, and think of constructive, positive things they might add (note: it's still possible to be positive and contructive while disagreeing with someone! Work on that).

Too many of these posts (from both sides) are just saying 'agree with me, dammit!', without adding anything new to the thread. If that keeps up this thread is sure to get locked (which is a shame, because the discussion of how game mechanics might encompass people who don't identify as male or female was actually interesting, even if it is never applied to Starbound).

I dunno.. You're talking about sides. I tend not to think of things as "us vs. them". We're not talking about sports teams here. Us vs. them feels like right vs. wrong feels like black & white. The issue clearly isn't that simple. I openly welcome constructive feedback, but all I've seen so far is complaining about how people should "buck up" or "deal with it" because "a handful of people don't matter".

I've posted my thoughts on the matter in just about every way that I can to better explain myself. But I haven't seen any clear responses as to why it's a bad idea. If you look through just the past two pages, I've asked people for specific examples or reasons why they don't like the idea but they've completely failed to do so. Psuedoboss almost answered directly, when they mentioned how their parents have "strange views" but made a vague reference to "these mechanics" that I still don't think address the suggestion. Fox news keeps coming up, which really confuses me. I still can't figure out why Fox is an important issue here.. Evangelion merely points to the downvotes as if they represent an accurate representation of community feedback.

People fear change. Fear is weakness.

This seems to happen whenever someone suggests this kind of thing. The thread derails due to petty arguments and eventually becomes a bunch of people throwing rebuttals at each other.

If I were transgender(which I may very well be, I don't know yet) I don't think I'd ask for this kind of option because it''d be a pointless checkbox that does nothing you couldn't do by saying "I'm/my character is transgender". All it would really do is weird people out who aren't used to the reality of gender identity and in some cases put people off from the game. As in, it might give them the idea that that option is an integral element in the game and that they don't really want to get involved in that. From a development standpoint that's not worth giving transgenders a friendly shoutout in the form of a checkbox, because it's like a button labelled "Free oxygen". I mean... sure, you could pretend it gave you oxygen, but in reality it gave you nothing other than the knowledge that you pressed it. You can still just breathe oxygen without the button.

There is no universal internet rule requiring you to be immature on the internet. This is not an excuse, plain and simple.

Arguments like this only go in circles ad nauseam until a moderator locks the thread. This concept is interesting, but, at least in my subjective, non-disprovable or provable opinion, it's just not applicable to Starbound.

People seem to have issues with the removal of the "Male / Female" Selectors, hence me leaving them in.

Well, nobody has locked the thread yet. Probably because it's a legitimate suggestion that brings up issues about diversity in video games.

I'm seriously concerned though. I feel like the suggestion is pretty clear. I know a few people have commented and proved they understand it, but the overwhelming majority still think this is a request for a "HURR I"M TRANSGENDER ACKNOWLEDGE MY RACE" option.

    1. Remove Male/Female Choice Option
    2. Replace this option with body type selection

    3. Allow the player full access to options for all hairstyles and clothing styles
    4. ????????
    5. Increase diversity among player character generation choices

Where does this find its way to fox news? Where does this limit your ability to play the character you want to play? Why is it a bad thing to increase user choice? None of these have been answered yet, so forgive me if my posts are beginning to sound redundant.
