Gasmask/rebreathers!

Okay so I love gasmasks and rebreathers and filters of all sorts.
Does Starbound have any hats that people of that are like so?

Also think of the concept of a gassy biome where those would be necessary - that would be cool! Or entire planets x]
That'd be REALLY cool. Or perhaps it would function like the diving helmet in terraria - expands breath meter for significant amount of time - requires craftable air canisters?

 

One of the very first Starbound pictures had a guy in a hazmat suit.

 

Hazmat suit, cool, jes. So I guess that helps the gassy biome thing... but gasmaks on their own, do they exist?!

 

Hazardous atmospheres have been mentioned in the past by the dev team. Also as we have seen in the screenshot of the early crafting screen, there will be items that provide protection against hazardous environmental conditions and items that give you a longer air supply for non-breathable atmospheres (and underwater). I think it's safe to assume that items like rebreathers will be in the game.

Also I'm not sure what's up with this thread but the text in the input box was black and gave me an error when I tried to post. I had to disable Javascript to get my message to go through even though every other thread on the forum is working fine.

 

Would a rebreather even be necessary for robots, though? They don't require any sort of oxygen to survive, so unless the fog is corrosive, I don't see any sort of use for robots.

The biology of plants would make interactions with them and the environment quite interesting as well. Some plants are the ones that emit toxic gases, and I'm starting to wonder if Florans have that capability as well.

Still have a WW1 gasmask from my grandfather when he was in the war. Awesome display piece.

 

I'd be willing to wager the robots have some biological elements in'm, especially since we can see that some have a brain!

there already is a gas mask, i wish i could find the sprite of it(it had a gas mas, a bowler, shark head and something else on human heads)

Whenever M'aiq sees a gas mask, M'aiq gets creeped out.

 

Gasmasks and other similar apparatus are always cool, they incorporate a nice mechanic to games as-well as looking cool. Personally I think they make exploration seem much more in-depth, or just more realistic.

 

As a fan of Stalker and Fallout saga you have all of my yes, i like to see more gas masks in the game

 

Post apocalyptic, stalker, metro, fallout, anything. I just love gasmasks! Glad everyone likes the idea. And Ephexis, if you can find that, please do!

would wonder how they look on some of the other races its likely they wont use the same designs as humans do

 

In theory all races have the same base, when they put a helmet the hair disapear so i don't think we will have problems in the future but if this helmets don't fit wit some race and i have the oportunity to make a mod i will make the changes, it will not takes too much time to modify

 

Gas masks are very much something I would like to see in game.
I remember a while ago a talk about being able to set base on gas giant planets and that would be a perfect place to be able to use them.
