Of course, the raw power of gravity and the crushing weight of the gas above you would kill you one way or the other, thus the suggesting of a base floating inside the cloud layer of mine

Ya i love idea of gas planets. But I dont think it should be so realistic it would ruin gameplay.
Would be fun if gas planets had floating land islands inside or something.

You know some magical mystery to the game. Instead of ultra realism

You know honestly there could be rock so thick it could float on the gas around it, but that would make a very deadly evenerment, even assuming you could live where the rock floated, falling would clearly be deadly.

    I like it.

Dense, no doubt. Solid, not necessarily. Just because something is dense dosn't mean that it is solid. I'm not saying that it isn't solid, but i'm not assuming that it is.

While it is true they it is possible they are not, there is many reasons to think they are at this point, and few to think otherwise. It doesn't matter at this point however, as we can just say whatever we like for the shake of the game

Basically as i concluded previously before someone decided to dredge this argument up again.

So anyway. floatign bases in gas gaints. It makes sense, leaves this core stuff out of it. what do you think

They can include a core made of radioactive rock-candy for all i care as long as it benifits the game and gameplay. And floating bases would be cool too.

I think their should be one or two troll gas plants.
Where you accidently use a fire, the entire planet goes up in flames.

You got to wait a few days for the fire to go out. Then you can come back stay for a week before another gas explosion [associated with fire of course]

how about you traverse them in you ship and the enemies well you'll need that ship to have a chance....

Because they have no solid surface and are very volatile i would suggest to only be able to fly there with your ship to "mine" them for resources. I could also see the chance of some sort of resource extraction station that is located in their orbit.

Tbh i would rather fly in my ship there and suck them dry bevor i step outside and float around with some sort of jetpack what's rather inefficient and risky and would serve a better or different purpose.

Think Bespin and Cloud City in Starwars.
They have huge cities in the clouds mining some rare and valuable gas called Tibana.

And they ship out the tibana gas in the form of tibana enriched carbonite (same carbonite han gets frozen in!)

Anyways the point being, huge NPC cities floating in the upper layers of the atmosphere, like explorable dungeons.
Maybe even, giant floating gas lifeforms that players can walk on, and dig through, and explore their innards, I don't know, but it could be pretty cool.
