First, how does the gas planet works. there will have more than 4 level of the Atmosphere. 1--- the lowest one is a metal core, have so less rock rolling on it. (under metal core, is metal liquid) here is too high gravity , too hard to move. (the player just like sticking on the land[but when player jump, he will blow away by the strong wind]) Need top level spacesuit to survive. 2--- Above metal core level, is very strong wind with a small area(height). the wind is very strong that continuous to blow player to one way(left or right). player is too hard to fly to the other way. At this level, it is hot, some metal sand flying on the air. 3--- Above very strong wind level. Is a weaker wind. Blow to the other way different from the lower wind level. have larger rocks fly on the air. here is cold. 4--- above the 3rd wind level. Is a weaker wind. Blow to the other way different from the lower wind level. have more larger rocks fly on the air. here is hot. 5--- If this is a big gas planet, It will have 2 or 4 more wind level(the top wind level must be hot) the wind level will be cold hot cold hot ........ ======================================================== How player land on the gas planet. player can't land on it, but have 3 way to arrived it. 1--- when player get technology which can rebuild the spaceship. player can build rooms, player can set some rooms to be small cabin. the room need to have hatch(if it don't have hatch, you can't set it as cabin). player can make small ships and put in the cabin. player can ride the ship in to the gas planet on the top wind level area. the ship can add in tools to have function, like collectors, lighting, bomber or other things. 2--- player can build a Flying Platform on air. Player first set a energy tank box with engine. To gain a point to build platform and buildings. Set a filter and gas synthesizer. set breathe air refill machine. set energy store tank(for [energy tank box with engine]). set transmitter, then you can go between spaceship and platform. 3--- fly by your self. If you don't have any platform. you will fall from the top, before you fall to the bottom please go to find big rock and land on it by your spacesuit. ============================================================= What can we gain? Ancient ruins, animals as big insect, Gas clouds(after use machine to collect , can change to liquid gas or metal gas), liquid gas(at bottom) metal / metal gas(at bottom)
if gas giant were playable i would imagine them as a huge ocean of death surrounded by solid cloud, basiquelly a planet based on air platforming under extreme condition. there you can collect solid gas and even some rare mineral if you can get close enough to the planet itself
I was hoping they'd implement something to where some gas giants are able to be landed upon, but only in the sense that there might be a civilization (cloud city anyone), that is in the upper atmosphere, you can be on.
Sounds cool, I ALWAYS wanted to visit gas planets in any game with planet landing. I really hope something like this can get in the game.
I want there to be gas planets you can go on that have floating islands. It's so novel that I can't believe it wasn't thought of. You can still have a molten core, it can just be replaced with a superheated gas core. You could make it so idyllically floating island earth-like worlds are the rarest. These can be occupied by Avian cities or temples, or ruins of the ancient precursor race everyone talks about.
Just because they are made of gas, doesn't mean that gas can be used as fuel. And I can't see why ancient ruins are on there. Also, Jupiter is a gas giant. We tried sending a probe to it's center. It melted before it was halfway through. That had better be one amazing spacesuit. I imagine you wouldn't go there on purpose, but accidentally get trapped in orbit while flying past it to a nearby planet. But it should be an entirely different kind of planet then any others in starbound. And some should have Jupiter's red spot.
i have many problems with this 1. the gravity would be so intense you will die from one of two things. your brain being crushed under its own weight. or your blood is too heavy for your heart to pump around the body. 2. also the surface of gas giants are so cold due to the lack of sunlight that some gasses such as carbon dioxide would be frozen if not in liquid form. the noly way it would be worm is if the gas giants core is molten and there are many active volcanoes. or the gas giant is extremely close to the sun. 3. gas giants are so inhospitable that it would be a joke if there was any sign of life on it. unless a life supporting planet was pulled in by its gravity. but i think the shock of the two worlds colliding would either completly destryo both worlds and leave very little peices left or the gas giants ration around the sun would be so disturbed it would either escapes the suns gravity or plummet into the surface of its sun. there is so many other things to type but i dont want to sit here forever so if someone wants to know more just ask
A gas giant would kill you instantly with crushing gravity. At most, you should be able to siphon fuel off of it with advanced tools on your ship around tier 8-10.
A gas giant is just that. A giant planet made of gas. Jupiter is several orders larger than the Earth, but at it's fringes the gravity is very similar to that of earth. The core of Jupiter is most likely a supremely hot superfluid. So, one could never "land" on a gas giant. But one could definitly interact with one, given sufficiently advanced technology. Jupiter's gases are made mostly of hydrogen and helium. Hydrogen=fuel. So being able to at least fuel off of a gas giant should be feasible.
In what way is that relevant? The Hindenburg had an unfortunate confluence of chemicals used in it's construction that made it a ticking time bomb(watch mythbusters, and google it).
or you could of watched a documentory to learn that yes the gas used to make it float was flammable but the thing that cause the devastation was the sharp turn the captain did that cause a cable to snap and wip a hole into one of the hydrogen chambers which then lightning cause it to start on fire spreading through the chambers and sections etc etc and yes we are getting a little off topic
Suffice it to say, Hydrogen is the most efficient combustion material you can find, as well as the most common element in the universe, at an estimated 75% of the universe being comprised of Hydrogen. So yeah, we should be able to fuel off of gas planets. Maybe some sort of mini-game, or you have to like "dive" in with the collector dealy bob. Who knows.
