RELEASED Gardenbot 2.1 -- REBOOTED -- 2.1.1.6

Robotic Farming ... IN SPACE! - Supports modded plants! - Cheerful 1.3.4

  1. Completionist97

    Completionist97 Big Damn Hero

Sorry, wasnt aware he had fixed it yet.
And as for the orientation thing, it mentioned the bots so i assumed you might know the problem.

Just wanted to make sure all my mods play nice together. I cant even think of playing without Frackin' or gardenbots. Its gonna be hell waiting after the next update.

    bots will be ready :)
usually have update released same day as patch
did for Pleased and Glad, don't see any reason Cheerful will be different :)

  3. Legogod

My mining bots are rebelling against me. On all planets, across all mod combos I have tried, the robots refuse to mine into the lava layer. Is this intended behavior?

Yes, they stop mining 200 blocks above very bottom of map, which tends to be just outside lava layer
bots don't like lava baths :(

  5. Kennethern

    Kennethern Phantasmal Quasar

None of the bots are working for me at all. I intended to use it for Ore Plants+, but the strange thing is that the bots won't turn on. They sit wherever I placed them, as if they were a decoration. I've tried just about everything, including prodding at them with my spear, and increasing the game speed to 200x in hopes they would awaken. Any idea why this isn't working?

Activate them by pressing E on them like any interactive thing in the game.

I did. :p That was the first thing I tried.

  8. LoPhatKao

    LoPhatKao Space Kumquat

they dont work on nightly, only stable
if you looked in starbound log file theres probably a big error section with botspawner.lua referencing nil value "entity.blahblah" either setInteractive or configParameter
also if you hold Alt key they won't even flash to show that they're interactable

edit: yeah, entity.setInteractive error when you place it

Is there any way to turn off the uproot and re-plant option? You know, so the bots will only water and harvest, but otherwise leave the plants where they are originally planted?

I'm crossing my fingers that all I'd have to do is delete a certain segment of code...I have no real idea what I'm reading when I look at the LUAs. :)

  10. Legogod

    Legogod Cosmic Narwhal

It is a point of balance for the mod. Gardenbots start out with a ~75% chance to leave the crop planted when harvesting, and slowly go to 100% the more it harvests to simulate the bot 'learning' what to take.

Some plants, though, may require breaking them to harvest. The Perennial Crops mod can help with that, though.

  11. LoPhatKao

    LoPhatKao Space Kumquat

    there is! :)
in gardenbot.lua, in the function gardenbot.init()
look for the line that says something like "if storage.efficiency == nil then storage.efficiency = 0.75 end"
    change the 0.75 to 1.0

    in updatey news:
hope to have this ready to go when cheerful drops, but im having life issues - starbound keeps getting pushed further down the priority list :/

OMG! OMG! OMG! (flaps hands in front of face) You are AWESOME!!!
My gardens will never be disorganized again! Thank you so much for all your brilliant work!!!

I'm thinking of building a shrine to you, so that all my characters can make food offerings in your name. You have now become a God in my little universe. :notworthy:

so i've noticed a few wonky things with the mod (which will not prevent me from continuing to use it...it's great).

    1. v81 and v82 gardenbots will not till. only v80's seem to be able to do that.
    2. the v81 gardenbot has a typo in the description. i spent way too long trying to figure out why it needed to haul "ore". then i realized it was probably "more" -m.
    3. sometimes, my v82 gardenbots refuse to do their thing. http://images.akamai.steamuserconte...474/FCF73AF24C12FEA840FDFA28F396BAE4878C219E/ . the row i'm standing in hasn't been watered or anything since these pussplums reached this stage of growth. the bots just trundle back and forth, not actually doing any work...only stopping every now and then to do their animated sprinkling thing that doesn't actually water the soil. all the other bots in all the other rows of my pussplum farm are working. i dunno. i'll try destroying and replacing them and see if that works.

    otherwise, this is great.

edit: yeah, destroying and replacing them seems to have worked, for now at least.

edit 2: further question...do i have to use the crop bin and wood storage, or will any container within the bots' range work?

#1: yea only 80 will till, 82 spreads grass, as for 81...
#2: the description for 81 isnt a typo, it really does mine ores and haul them - foreground ores in the layer below bot, and background ores as far up as it can 'reach' (about 3 blocks)
#2a: the miner 49r uses the same mechanic, but can reach up 5 blocks in background
#3: skipped as it seemed to be resolved via edit 1
#edit2: the bins are nice to use because they're animated to show how full they are, but yes they can/will use any container that they can reach - they designate the first available one their 'homebin' and prefer to deposit into/use seeds from it

    cheerful updatey news
    -------------------

have had to change every lua file to new cheerful api, so the is no chance of backwards compatibility :(
otoh, i can finally remove all the legacy code which could improve speeds a smidgen :)

    bots:
named bots, with gardeners showing their efficiency (when you hold alt)
gardeners now utter the immortal curse of Q-Bert -- "@!#?@!" -- when they don't harvest plant properly
finally fixed the extra attack after target was dead
fix crew reacting to bots being monsters and attacking (mostly)
add instakill bots with bugnet - otherwise crew reacts and attacks, resetting bot hp (thanks to @BloodyRain2k for the idea)
add knockback to bot melee attacks
increase lumberbot base damage from 15 to 25
due to changes to targeting required for crew, bots currently are rarely the instigator in a fight, including v87 - working to improve this without breaking it and having bots attack crew or each other

    storage:
mini skip capacity increased to 24, animated capacity graphics by @HuggableCreep implemented
crop bin capacity increased to 24, added flag so food doesn't rot inside

    recipes:
all bot recipes redone to replace removed items, v49 and mini skip recipes added
bots and fences are crafted at new farming table, bins are crafted in workbench

    more cheerful updatey stuff
    -------------------------
    bot:
gardeners, guardian and miners now inflict an electric DOT effect as well as their regular electric attack when enemy in melee range
knockback added to all melee attacks, lumber knockback increased
bots try to stack rotten food if any found while depositing - may change to just delete it
tillState reworked so bot can till all tillable blocks (dirts, clay and mud) without requiring a previously tilled spot
tillState added to v81 and v82
grassState added to v87, removed from v82
fixed fight instigation for all but v49 - theyre a miner not a fighter ;)
readd petball playing to v86 and v87
volume of miner drill sound reduced
add material damage sound to miner - edit - tweaked material damage sound so it plays the 'ting' when hitting an ore, otherwise just plays drill sound
add protected tile sanity check to miner
redo sapling hue shift code -- all hues set to 0 when picked up by any bot, color is changed on planting by lumberbot
    gardeners harvest mothtraps

    recipes:
change gardeners to all require same amount of mats (2 wire, 1 AA battery, 1 silicon board, 2 bars)
change lumber, guard, and miner to cost double gardener mats, miner also requires a diamond
still need to recalculate costs and adjust Terramart prices accordingly

ah. ok then, thanks :D. i was under the impression that the 81 and 82 were merely upgrades upon the v80 (faster, carry more crops, harvest with more efficiency, whatever), as opposed to filling different roles altogether.

is this a bug on my side but i cant find the v49r bot (mining bot) its not in any of the crafting stations please tell me whats happened if yuou can thank yo and waiting a responce

the mining bot is exclusive to the terramart store in the outpost. unless you have the tabula rasa mod and the mod that adds the gardenbots to it. as seen in the "the bots" section of the mod overview :)

    indeed.. thanks for answering :)

since next game update is gonna be a while, im going to backport the changes i can to a new glad giraffe release

edit -- looking thru list of changes above, the ones i see that can/should be ported are:
sapling hue shift recode -- done
extra attack after target dead fix -- done
tillstate not needing a pretilled spot -- done
    lumberbot damage -- done
    bin capacity changes -- done
    miniskip gfx -- done
petball playing fix for lumber & guard bots
recipe changes - including making minerbot & miniskip craftable
not sure if i can do the knockback&electric DoT - will try --e-dot done

changes for crew will not be needed, so bots will stay as killable mobs (for now)
this also means the bugnet instakill wont be needed

    edit2:
