Bug/Issue Game won't stop running on Steam

I was trying to run Stardew valley when I got the message from Steam indicating "Failed to start game (app already running). I have closed the game normally from the menu and closed via via the task bar but the game does not stop running. The only way I was able to close was to shut down Steam entirely. This is a really annoying way to have to close a game so...

Has anyone else encountered this and know a solution to this Issue?

 

I have been having this issue as well. I've tried every method I can think of to close it: closing from the menu in-game, clicking the red X in the corner, closing the application from the task manager, and killing the process in task manager. No matter the method, Steam still thinks the game is running, and won't let me re-open the game until I kill the Steam process as well.

If it matters, I purchased the game on the Humble Store.

should be fixed soon.. hope for the best..

the "fix" i have for this issue is to don't use steam for stardew valley and run the binary in the installationfolder itself.. there it works. just create a desktop icon for it & it will be fine..
i don't think the fix come soon.. sadly.
