As a new player the game is way too hard. I get killed in two hits against enemy's, and my dam is way too low to stand a chance. There needs to be a system that adjust enemy's depending on your k/d and gear, so the enemy's cant one hit you at the start but you still need to swing a couple of times. And the need for 2 iron ore to make one ingot is a bit unbalanced.\ Thanks
Oookay, so... Let's start from the butt's end. How exactly is 2 ores per ingot unbalanced? As in too many? Not enough? It's the way it is and believe me you can gather a lot of resources with little effort or deep mining. I am pretty sure that for more advanced materials this amount will be upped (like in Terraria), so for one bar of lets say Rubium you'd need 4 or so ore. Even if they won't do it, 2 ores giving one bar (with exception of diamonds that go 4 -> 1) seems very reasonable. Dying in two hits - you need armour. Starting characters don't have any and are very fragile. You know, as it would be in real world. When you get yourself some protection though, it gets much better. As a side note - pretty much every time you go up a level, monsters on the new higher level planets will 2- or even 1-hit you. That's how it works now, but devs mentioned somewhere, that current planet difficulty levels (1-10, used to be 1-100) will be tweaked to vary within their respective levels as well - having real difficulty levels of for example 1,1 or 1,45. Side note - you can find and use shields which negate a lot of damage. My friend visiting a planet way above his level was able to deflect hits that would kill him in one blow. I personally never used shields, so I can't tell you more about them above that observation. Standing a chance in fight - this game's fighting is as far as I can say mostly about your positioning. Even with standard crappy sword it's perfectly possible to beat anything by minibosses and not get a scratch. Pick a position best for your fight, aggro the enemy and then all that's left is timing your attacks so that knockback will prevent enemy monster from hitting you. Also you will most likely find way better weapons in chests scattered around your planet. Side note - you are not limited to that one planet, for just 1 fuel (obtained from coal and I believe wood logs) you can travel to any planet that is on the same screen as the one you're at when you open navigation tab. This expands possibilities of obtaining gear from chests. Another side note - some mobs are neutral and during night more dangerous mobs appear. You can beam back to your ship for a minute or so, that resets planet's time back to morning provided no other players are planetside.
wut ?! the game is too hard ?! the game is NOT too hard atm... the enemies can be dodged, with long range weapons like two-hand sword / axe you can knockback them... it's really not possible to get killed in the first planet... with the two handed sword they can't even touch you... 2 iron ore to make 1 ingot is unbalanced ?! wuuuuuut ?! you know that you can find loads and loads of iron ores deep in the ground ? you will have so much ingots to throw also in the bin... just mine... explore... the difficulty now is too easy, same for the boss fights... in the future, the difficulty will be buffed and easy win game is quite boring... there's no challenge in easy games...
Interesting, I can't relate AT ALL. I wish the game was more challenging, especially lvl10. I like to live on lvl10 because the mobs can actually hurt you but you can still 1 hit them.
inb4 casual vs. hardcore flame war. Are you playing the same game as the rest of us? If you just started out, what you said shouldn't be true. Now assuming you're fighting mobs on the surface during the day, you'll do enough damage to them with your starting weapon to cause knockback. Also even with no armor, they shouldn't be able to kill you in two hits. Once you craft or find a weapon in a chest, you'll be able to kill most monsters across the Alpha sector in one or two hits. There is plenty, plenty of iron ores around, especially underground. The system you mentioned sounds like level scaling, which I doubt would be a good idea. Why bother getting stronger gear if the same monsters will suddenly become stronger to match it? If monsters are giving you a lot of trouble, you can easily place blocks around them to trap them. You'll be fine as long as you don't get careless. You would have really thought this game was too hard if you played it back with the old progression system. With in the same sector, on one planet you could one shot enemies and barely take damage from them, but in another the opposite would apply.
Alright guys calm down! I have had this game for like 1 day! So im not a pro player and as a "noob" its really annoying with how i have shit weapons and can get killed so easily!
I admit I haven't played the game in yonks, but I see where he's coming from. When I first played, I found that any encounter with mobs could be my last. Normally I wouldn't mind that later on in the game, but in the first few minutes? No, that's not my cup of tea. Maybe there's supposed to be some kind of incentive to get better at the game from that, but it clearly isn't working for everyone. I believe the game needs some real difficulty options, allowing the player to choose mob strength, resistance and AI to suit their needs.
Clam down? No one was flaming you here, at worst your claims were questioned. I'm far from a pro player myself, but I'm still not understanding how you claim to be dying in two hits if you're facing surface monsters on a Alpha sector planet. Now you can get killed pretty quickly later on, but not so much right from the very start. The monsters deep underground and at night time are stronger, so you might want to beam to your ship for a minute or so if you get caught outside at night. Once you find or craft any weapon, it'll be so much easier to kill the monsters. Are you aware of bandages? You can craft them by hand using plant fiber, which are the vines that hang down in caves. A stone axe is the quickly way to cut them down. Bandages will go a long way in helping you survive. If you could actually go into more details about what's going on, people should be willing to help you out. Saying the game is too hard from barely playing it sounds like it leaves a bad impression. Perhaps the tutorial quests will be updated for future releases since it doesn't do a very good job of explaining many mechanics.
