Closed Game is broken. Please help if possible. RESOLVED

I am unable to load my game and have no idea what this means. Can someone assist with some technical support? There is an attached image of whatever is wrong.

 

Perhaps something wrong with updates... Or mods. Do you have mods installed?

 

I have mods, but I removed all of them to make sure, and it still happens.

 

Reinstall the game. This should make it work.

 

:/ I was hoping for something that wouldn't take me an entire day to do....

Before I do is there any way to NOT lose my character when I do this? because I will be rather miffed losing everything I have...

 

You could try verifying your game cache files through Steam. If any vanilla Starbound files are missing or have been modified (which is what your error message seems to suggest), then they'll be repaired.

For future reference, this is a good first step when you get CTDs with any Steam game, particularly if you've been modding.

 

How do I run a verification? I am not that technically adept.

Nevermind I figured it out, and it say all files successfully verified. :/

I've also verified the game cache in Steam but no luck.

 

The problem you showed is a mod error, not the game itself.

 

Thanks SweFox. It was Hunting+ causing the problem. Deleted it and it works fine now.

 

I removed Hunting plus and it is still not working.

 

Then it's another mod. Search for "smallflyingnight" and see which mod it belongs to.

 

Search via the start menu search? Because that turned up nothing. (pardon my slow grasp of this not a good tech person) UPDATE: I found the file....and it is vanilla only. Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling and losing everything?

 

Try deleting the file in question, then verify your cache again through Steam. If it's a vanilla file, it should be replaced with the most current version. I'd make a backup of the file first and store it in a different location... even if it's bugged, you may still need it if this doesn't work.

My guess is that a whole bunch of monster types got messed up by one of your mods. The fact that it's no longer displaying an error for the "monsterflyingnight" file suggests that that one has been fixed, though.

I'd repeat the process you just went through for this quadruped file and any others the game may give you similar errors about.

 

Worked my way up the chain and now this. Not even going to pretend I know what this is.

 

Eurgh. Yeah, that's over my head too. Sorry, wish I could help.

 

This is just a guess, but do you use any mods that alter your world at all (i.e. new biomes). It's been a while since I've done any C++, but my guess is that the error is with a world file.
