Was playing Starbound and about a half hour in my game froze. Could still move mouse, but couldn't click on anything. Couldn't exit the game. A few minute later the music stops playing and shortly afterwards, I'm logged out to my Linux login screen. I was in Fullscreen mode, and just walking around.

I'm running Linux Mint Cinnamon 18.1 64 bit.
    Ubuntu kernel 4.15.0-42

    attaching my error log

Happened again as I was opening a chest.

Modification to my earlier post, its wasn't Fullscreen, it was Windowed. I juse enabled Fullscreen in my options now.

Even with Fullscreen its still randomly freezing.

The logs dont show any error so it might not be starbound which is failing in this case but being affected by something else. Maybe too less ram and linux takes a while to clean things up (or moving them to a swapfile).
What are your overall specs by chance?

If this an issue with computer specs, it there any options I could turn on or off to make the game run smoother?

Oh sorry totally forgot to answer, my bad >_<

Your specs look fine so far. According to your specs i assume you also might have a dedicated graphics card in your rig. Might be worth switching to this one as default device.
Starbound occasionally has some problems when running on integrated graphics although i saw a lot of people saying that this isnt a problem under linux at all. Cant say much on this tho since my gaming rig is running under windows but it might be worth checking.
If there is no dedicated graphics card you could try monitor the processes with "top" or any other "task-manager" software. Maybe sth else is interfering which causes starbound to freeze for so long.
Also you can check if your OS is running in a powersave mode. This limits the CPU performance and most likely also the APU performance as well.
