Bug/Issue Game freezes after opening

Recently, when I've tried to play Starbound, the game opens, but after moving through the menus for a bit it starts freezing. If I open the character creator, it freezes, and when I try switching desktops it takes around 15-30 seconds before it actually switches. Occasionally it doesn't switch, and I have to restart my computer before I can do anything. If instead I go to the graphics settings, it freezes, and when I switch desktops the screen tears, and I have to restart.

I'm playing on Mac. This issue happens regardless of whether I open Starbound through Steam or directly from the application. A screenshot of my system specs as well as the Starbound log have been attached.
