Closed Game doesn't start

I've been trying to play it on Linux, but when I click PLAY on Steam all that happens is my avatar goes from blue to green back to blue and the game doesn't actually start. I tried validating the cache, which reported 24111 files which failed to validate and downloaded 1.2 GB of stuff. After that, I tried again and validating again does the same thing.

Edit: fixed by installing libpng12
