    Hi,

I post that information on bugs database thread but it looks that was missed.

I'm clicking "play" on Steam, Steam shows my status that I'm playing and after few seconds it shows that I'm online. Game doesn't run, doesn't crash, nothing happen.

    Windows 7 64bit.
Latest version of game and steam client.

    How can I debug that?

By giving us way more info than that.

OK, tell me what information do you need and how can I get that info?
I can't find any logs in game directory so I don't sure what can I provide to you.
Game just doesn't start at all...

    More HW spec:
    Graphics: GTX780, Driver 331.82

Is the process running in the background? I've had it do that a couple times, but only after I played it for a while.

(Sorry if that's a dumb question.)

Game takes a minute to start up, but yeah, should actually DO something. :(

I am running this game on GTX 780 OCd by MSI (MSI N780 TF 3GD5/OC Gaming) and intel core i5 - 4440 with no problems
    Also Win 7 64bit

Did you tried to reinstall the game?
Also try to find the game in your steam folder and run the launcher as an administrator and see what happens.

  6. migego

Nope, I didn't see starbound in process lists.

  7. migego

    migego Space Hobo

    Yes, I tried.

I tried that too, nothing happen.

That's pretty weird than, there has to be an answer for this... I know this was happening to me with Poker Night 2, I basicly had to try again and again and the game eventually started up.

I tried to run Steam as administrator and then run game - no effect.
I tried also to run launcher (win32/launcher) as administrator - that same, no effect.
No splash screen, no black screen, no blue screen, just nothing happen.

OK, so any ideas how can I run that game or how can I get any logs from starting process to check what was wrong?

Seems to be the typical access troubles of late. Windows 7 just loves to not listen to admin right status.

Open Task Manager - Ctrl - alt - del

End all processes relating to starbound (if any)
End all processes relating to steam (and I mean all)

Right click your Steam icon and run as administrator, Even if you have admin status on your Windows account still do this.

While waiting for Steam to boot up, Go to. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Starbound\win32

    For these files:

    Starbound.exe
    Starbound_opengl.exe
    Starbound_server.exe

Extenstions may not be on as default. please note

Right click them, Properties, Go to the compatability tab and check the box at the bottom to run as administrator.
    Okay/Apply these changes

    Close the folder
    Hit play Starbound on Steam,

Post here if that does help and we will see about going about this another way.

That same problem, disabled also Kaspersky AV on second try.

Well your antivrus would only become a problem if you were hosting a multiplayer server.

    Have you tried deleting your

    Playercodex
    PlayerQuests
    questPlanetseeds Database files
    in
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Starbound\universe
    ?

I don't have that "universe" directory. I have only:
    _CommonRedist
    assets
    linux32
    linux63
    Starbound.app
    win32

I didn't run that game even once so maybe game didn't create universe yet. It is fresh installed game. Never played.

Okay. can you head to your starbound folder.

Open up the Starbound.log file (its a text document) and post it to http://pastebin.com/.

    then post the link here?

Im not great with the logs but its better then nothing.

There is no such file in game directory. It looks like Steam didn't start game at all. I checked Steam/logs dir and didn't see any interesting in that logs. It is very strange :wut:

Okay I am VERY confused right now.

The logs should be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Starbound
They are text documents at the bottom of the folder list.
Without them, I really have no idea. The game should create something when it tries to start at least.

There is no any files in that folder, I wrote whole list of head Starbound folder content few posts earlier ;) just few other folders and nothing more.

Okay, Sorry for the delay, Really needed something to eat :p

Can you open your Steam. Locate starbound, Right click, Properties, Go to local files tab
Select bottom option to verify your game cache?

I wonder if you had a bad download/install.
