Bug/Issue game does not recognize [spacebar] key

Hi, I just made a fresh installation of Linux mint and basically the game now does not recognize spacebar (I can jump if i remap to another key) game build 1534105.

I am baffled as to why that should happen; the game ran just fine two days ago on previous system (also linux).
The log does not show anything useful though.

Let me know what else I could provide to resolve the issue. Thanks
