Bug/Issue Game crashes when going to sleep

This is a problem that started happening to me somewhere around the 20th of summer of the first year (although I've heard other people have had it happen at earlier or later stages of the game, it seems to be random). Basically what happens is the game crashes when going to sleep at the end of the day. Windows displays an error message and closes the game. I've noticed that the crash can be avoided by skipping a day, but that only delays the problem by a day or two, after which the game starts crashing again. When I asked my friends and random people on other forums, no one seemed to agree on what causes the problem. Some of the theories are:

• Game crashing only because of certain in-game events
• Game crashing because of having certain items in your inventory
• Bad compatibility with the user's computer setup
• Save file issues

I even tried checking my save files and running the game as administrator and nothing worked. So, does anyone have an idea on what is actually going on here? Is there a reliable solution or am I all out of luck?
