Aw, what? But there aren't any ohter servers that run the Pony modpack, at least not that I know of.

And playing in singleplayer isn't the same.. because, you know, friendship is magic and stuff.

 

I don't know the first thing about running a server, but i'm willing to help however i can. Is it possible to run Furrybound server on a normal PC for a little while and see if we can get a new server host?
We can't just let a community like this die that easily.

 

Yes, provided it doesn't run on anything besides electricity.

Also I don't get what's so complex about hosting a server that you can't just start it and leave it running.

Not as easy to do as you'd think. I used to run a minecraft server off my brother's computer, and he would game on it while it ran.

 

Not really due to the ridiculous resource requirements. Not to mention it'd be privy to what that user is doing at that time for the matter of player consistency.

You are aware that this game eats INCREDIBLY RAM usage right? CPU as well. Even on our previous amazing hardware we were still throttling RAM incredibly and CPU to 100%.. It's kind of amusing how non-optimized the server software is.

What are you working with?

You've no idea the bugs that plague this server software... Haha. If only it were that easy.



Edit: I could try and take donations, yes, but it's such a hassle if the right amount of funding isn't met and then refunds have to be issues. Not to mention dedicated servers aren't cheap (can't really use a VPS due to shared hardware causing inconsistencies with performance). However, I might try a Gofundme if people are truly interested in revival. Only once a goal has been met (probably 6 months of server time) would payments process. Otherwise the site would refund for me.

Personally I prefer the axe. The blood is more of a deterrent, especially in large quantities.

 

Artillery and bayonet charges are always good too.

 

Or bombs. You can never go wrong with explosives.

 

I'm currently working with a single core VPS. It's got 512 mb of RAM and 40 gigs of storage. I use it to run some TF2 servers and host a website, which it runs amazing for what I pay. I haven't tested it with Starbound, though.

 

You can never go wrong with a Megalith.

 

512 mb of RAM? If Starbound uses so much ram I'd have to assume it should take more than all of my ohter game servers, and these usually take up minimum 1GB ram to even start.
