Alright, it'll be removed upon next auto-restart. It won't stop anything though; people will still be able to get said guns in SP and bring it over. I haven't had time to do the projectile list today; very busy.

 

This. There's really no point in removing it.

In fact, at least it makes things fair. There are multiplayer friendly mods that you can use to spawn and dupe things even on servers that are completely vanilla.

Some of the worst ways to grief don't even come from the creative mode mod. Someone a while back gave me an item that spawned ordinarily undamageable drones with super high health. In the case of drones it's not too obnoxious, but I'm pretty sure someone could apply those traits to something else and make something real headache inducing.

To a certain extent you just kinda gotta accept that having freedom means giving other people freedom to be asshats. Because people are going to find a way to be asshats one way or the other, really. I think GIFT applies here.

It is. I've been trying to get on for the last hour at least. :/

 

The auto-restarts are broken; I messed with some values in the crontab thinking it would fix a small issue we were having, instead making it worse. Reverting now.

Server is working on being booted back up, give it about 10 minutes.

I would like to say that's the case, but the server crashed again and never restarted. :/
Not only that, but i think one of my character files got deleted in the process. I restarted starbound after it crashed, and my Vox character was suddenly gone. I cant even find him in the folder for all my players. I doubt that was the crash's fault, but perhaps someone else knows what happened.

 

I agree with you, there is no point in removing it; The cheaters will still cheat using it, but if you don't want to use it, just don't. I believe we should be quick at banning projectiles at spawn, it would save the trouble.

Thought, the lava gun, acid gun and water gun are good to build beautiful buildings... Please don't ban 'em. :/

Could you make any estimations on when the server will be back online, or will this be something that falls purely on luck and waiting time?
I am asking this because its been several hours since the last update about the server situation, and I'd hate to lose access to such a great server so suddenly

Cat i been using that mod for a while and when it wasn't on the server the water gun and lava gun wouldn't work at all and the reason people are requesting the ban of the acid gun water gun and lava gun is cause idiots are using it to grief.

 

It would be nice, but from what I've seen, there aren't enough mods to keep a constant visual watch over the home world. The griefers tend to strike when no one is looking. However, I'm sure the mods like to play the game too, so it would have to be done in shifts once the server does build itself back up.

As for the lava and water guns, I would rather not see them banned as well. I use them to make wells and moats around my structure. Of course, if thats what ends up needing to happen to at least hinder the grieving, then it probably should be banned. However, you always could make a rule that states using the lava,water,acid gun on the home world equals a ban. On the same note, you shouldn't be able to use the overpowered gun on the home world either. Too many people have gone on rampages with that thing. >:/

 

I've removed the projectiles. Will take place upon next restart.

Sadly this cannot be done. I've just learned that I cannot ban projectiles from mods, only from normal asset folders. Therefore I must remove the projectiles from the mods, or delete their block-damaging properties (which flooding guns like lava acid and water are immune too since that's not their main problem).

thought it was because of a mod i had, but no. I cant get in even after removing it, but no problem, its worth waiting for this server to get back up ;p

 

Nono I'm sorry gents; I'm working on maintenance and whatnot. We'll be a little bumpy for a bit longer.

I'll post here when we're back online; working on an upgraded offline check script along with a backup system. It may be a while fuzzbutts, I'm sorry. I actually have time to do something today though so I'ma use it. xD
