That dog is right. My mum keeps a dog who regularly cleaned my little brother out of chocolates because he didnt keep them out of its reach.

Somehow, wrappers and all, that dog still exists. Hell, it ate enough chocolate to kill a HUMAN.

 

Chocolate poisoning is really common on dogs and is a real thing...
Milk chocolate and white chocolate are less risky but still bad for them.

Chocolate is made from cocoa, and cocoa beans contain caffeine and a related chemical compound called theobromine, which is the real danger.
The problem is that dogs metabolize theobromine much more slowly than humans.
And having too much of it can make them sick or even kill them.

Your dog was resistant or something... or you were lucky but chocolate IS dangerous for dogs.
It is also toxic for cats but they are not interest to eat it most of the time (cats doesn't taste the sweet... so that's not an interesting food for them)

Xylitol (a fake sugar) is also really bad for them... and a lot of human food can give them short or long term problems.
It is not because that don't kill it that's not bad for them.

 

Yeah, considering half the stuff that dogs eaten out of the trash, I dont think a chocolate bar wouldve deterred her. The stories I could tell you would not belong in this thread, because theyd not be funny Unless youre a horrible person like me

well yes, chocolate is toxic for the most of the species(human too), but no his/her dog is not resistant, the size of his/her dog count, and count 15g (100% black chocolate) per 10kg (dog pound), if your dog eat more of that amount it may be in danger,, if your dog is unstable(very excited) and does'nt vomit during/after 1hours contact immediatly his/her veterinary it's an emmergency
most of the dog know they have a problem so they purge themself with grass and vomit it, chocolate or not.
human food is harmfull for human too
the taste of your dog is inferior to a human(and a cat), he can detect some taste like sugar or salt, butnot the subtility of what he eat. dogs don't like spice, but love sugar and salt, prefer salt taste if you want to reward your dog, sugar causes blindness
