Full release, 2014. What do you think and why?

Based around a recent slowdown in updates I thought I would start a very simple to the point poll and discussion.

How many people believe they can meet their stated a possible full release in 2014 at this rate, and how many do not? At current I have misgivings. I feel the project will extend into 2015 to reach the level of completion they talked about in the future of Starbound post and others. So I thought I would get peoples thoughts on the matter. Do you think they can get this all done before Dec, 31 - and of course feel free to discuss reasons why or why not bellow. Also a note: This does not include things stated to be worked on after full release.

Edit: Due to the questionable nature of the faq on the pre-order page (going by what Jonesy has said). I am striking the notes regarding it. However I would like to ask that be changed soon if it isn't the official position anymore.

 

Yeahhhh... 2014 isn't going to happen.

 

I voted: No. 2015 or later.

Because: I expect they will take as long as is needed to release something that they can be proud of.

 

Keep in mind the 2014 estimate was before they found out they really aren't good at making estimates. They're real good at missing them by a mile though.
Likely won't even see a full release in 2016 at this rate, assuming we get to see it at all.
And i'm not just saying that to be sarcastic, but the longer a project takes the more variables it has that can go wrong. For example sickness ,fights, better job offers, economic collapse, a hipster's desire to ruin everything, running out of funds etc etc.

 

Actually I had been considering that. The link is on the pre-order page yet the actual images show TBA. However I started looking because someone had mentioned it recently in a post. So it seems this is still causing confusion. More so when no where on that page do they note it to be an estimate.

If Chucklefish isn't actually advertising 2014 anymore? I think they should have those managing the website revise something that is linked on the pre-order page like that asap.

 

Not earlier than 2015. But hey! Who gives a fuck cares if this game will be awesome, right?

 

I go with 2016 (or even later)

 

The game will never be finished. It will always have updates.

 

At the current rate, we'll be lucky to see a full release by the very end of 2016.

 

They said they'd give us an entire year of updates once the product is finished IIRC, so I would estimate december of 2014 isn't out of the question (it's a reach, but not out of the question.) They have a PS4 release date for 2014, so I imagine that's what they're thinking. I don't understand why they'd release an open beta to a full console.

If they plan on releasing some content with that year of updates they mentioned, then I would say 2014 as a work in progress. If not, then 2015 definitely.

 

I am actually somewhat inclined to agree with this... because our current game is an alpha dubbed a beta, why not just dub a beta a finished product, too?

 

I don't understand why they'd release SB on any other console than PC, it just doesnt make sense. But yeah, around the end of 2014 to the middle of 2015 is my estimated full game release.

 

2015 at least. with the glacial (yes it's hyperbole) rate that updates are coming, and the general lack of content in each new patch, their progression goals are getting further and further away.

i don't mind though.

 

considering it took two years to get THIS far, prolly 2018 or so.

 

Or we could get the final version when DOOM 3 becomes a reality (AKA when we colonize mars)

 

2015 or later because the game's too incomplete to be considered complete

just doesn't feel like a great game for me yet, still like terraria more even though I don't play it anymore

HL3 will be released before we colonize Mars, that's for sure.
