You ALL do realize that jumping between planets and moons costs only 1 fuel, and jumping within solar systems only costs ~100 fuel, right? Exhaust a solar system of its resources before hitting Find Random and jumping to a new location.
I'd like to see a system where we have to ready the wood/coal for use as fuel rather than just jamming it into my spaceships' Mr. Fusion. Later on when ship upgrades are added, perhaps you have to use refined fuel until you can add an upgrade to your ship that allows you to plop it straight in to the tank (I vote the upgrade being named Mr. Fusion). Being able to use higher tiers of fuel is something I'd imagine them adding later on. In the meantime, you can use this mod if you don't like the coal-to-fuel ratio: Starbound Fuel Mod http://www.nexusmods.com/starbound/mods/6/? Don't forget that you have to start a new save if you want to use a mod.
I've created a different thing, uses more fuel, steel, and more cash. You can check it out here - http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?resources/spacefuel-tamefoxx.8/ Note: You don't need to start a new game to use it, have tested this.
Considering the new update (or as far as I know), blocks the usage of unrefined wood/wood in the ship anymore, I think there should be another fuel alternative, Uranium for 1000 (or more) fuel sounds a little overpowered to me, I can't really think of any ideas off the top of my head!
I've added some different options in my mod. Yea, not part of the game, but installing it is really simple. I'm open for suggestions on how much fuel you get/per cost ratio. Never have even seen plutonium or uranium personally.
........ they removed the wood for fuel , idk what anyone would enjoy about this they cerainly need to rebalance the fuel types
