Fuel; 1 uranium cell, or an entire planets forest.

To be honest, im finding myself cutting down entire forests of trees to fuel my Ship so i can explore, No joke i have calculated around 15,000 wood used, that is alot of trees. and alot of effort, can you add more fuel sources, not just wood and coal, but also more efficient Sources maybe uranium. Cmon use those artificial brains of yours and add some more good content!!!!! (no pressure) ((Alot of pressure))

    that would be so nice.
replanting trees would also be a beginning for starter fuels, burning cacti or giant flowers (found a few trees that gave me them instead of wood), had a hard time to leave the planet because of this...

There is already Plutonium and Uranium, gotta go roid mining to get to um though.

are they jsut a random chestloot, or is it ore that you can find?

Again "gotta go roid mining to get to um though."

Uranium and Plutonium are found in the later sectors of the game. The earliest I'm aware of is the Delta sector.

No, you can get um from Alpha sector as well, again, you have to go asteroid mining.

well uraniu is just under powered for its rarity
it should be at least 20 power per each uranium and 30 for plutonium
ALSO the ship should be able to get an upgrade for more fuel holding or something

Stop complaining; coal is plentiful enough. Alternatively, just go mine some asteroids. Bring a winter coat and a stack of campfires.

you say coal is plentyful enough, But when you find this coal in cobblestone all the time and your using your gold/ platinum pics to mine it, your wasting gold and platinum and diamonds, plus its a crazy amount you need its around 1:1 1 coal/wood for 1 fuel, have fun mining 1000 coal / wood just to do a few jumps, especially when you need all that coal again for armor and lot of other stuff in the game, no one here wants to grind coal

You can repair any tool with copper ore...

Also, it's 1 coal : 2 fuel, and coal doesn't see much use outside of producing Steel and Torches...

    Do your research.

Also? Try jumping within solar systems and within planetary orbits. It only costs 1 fuel to move between planets in a planetary orbit and it costs only around 100 fuel to move between nodes in a solar system. Your massive fuel requirements come from jumping wildly across the star systems without any strategy whatsoever.

You know, if you'd just stop and pick up every coal vein you see while you're looking for other materials, hey guess what you're going to have more coal than you even know what to do with.

Oh, and don't forget to grab all the copper too. It's really useful for repairing your pickaxes.

huh...i knew about using the ore to repair but i thought i had to use the same ore the pickax was made of, and i was freaking out because my platinum pickax is almost broken and i can't find platinum ore.
if i can just use copper ore then that's a relief

    p.s.

coal is like...the most abundant resource, its everywhere, and you get 1:2 coal:fuel ratio not 1:1

coal becomes extreamly valuble after you get past steel its used for every other type of metal in the game and your gonna be serching for it later atm plutonium and urainium are extreamly rare or hard to mine and as such you can spend 2-4 hours mining it and have around 1/2 fuel tanks or you can spend 15-20 min cutting down trees and have 2-4 fuel tanks worth of wood(depending on planet type and tree type)

not to mention wood and coal is used for torches, and wood can be used for other things as well

I'm a little bothered that we use wood / coal to begin with, but I'd love to see things like fuel around the core of planets, refining of fuel, etc. I'd like to see wood / coal phased out if possible.

Coal is used to make all the "Alloy" Metals in later Tiers.

Hahah. Coal is awful compared to wood. Yes it's more power efficient, but waaay far from being more time efficient. Wood is incredibly easy to get, while coal is needed for torches, steel, durasteel and probably something I haven't found yet.

What we need is coal to be more effective to make it a not-useless power source, plutonium/uranium rods to be actually usable and a middle-ground between coal and nuclear power.

However, it takes a very long time to mine these items, the idea of progression is to remove the tedious tasks to allow time for new tasks. I just posted a thread suggesting a renewable fuel source that can be generated while your exploring. Yes you can fuel as you run around but it would be nice to know that I can "pass up" the coal and focus on finding the rarer mineral.

dunno what the issue is here it takes like 10 mins or so to get 1000 wood on a good forest planet which is more than enough to planet hop or try to spend more time on one planet and get as much stuff of it as possible before moving on to another that way you wont burn your fuel as quick.
