Hello everyone! I mainly decided to start this thread to bring attention to what necessitates FTL travel and what might not, and how the game might better be tweaked to account for such things. At the moment, all movement between systems and celestial bodies spools up the FTL drive and features the same lengthy travel sequence. While it might make sense for travelling between stars and between planets in a system, I feel that simply hopping to and from a planet and its satellites should simply use a shorter travel sequence that culls the FTL portion. While cheap fuel consumption is already a boon in moving between these bodies (and indeed, it should take much fuel to even engage the FTL drive), I feel that making the trips in short time would also make inter-planetary movement feel that much more convenient. Taking this idea a step further, perhaps it could even be possible to never leave the sight of the planets and its moons as we move between them? I'd definitely enjoy watching the planet/satellite I took off from diminish as the target body approaches. I'll leave the question to you--do these seem like good ideas worth supporting?
yeah, this never really made any sense to me either it should be just a quick flying animation to the planet
I think its more of a loading screen than a forced game-time padding mechanic. Not sure if the length is static.
