What I think is, all playable races so far do live in warm climates. Yes I do know about penguins, that's why I said playable. And novakids... Not sure, they live in space or something right? Anyway, they look pretty warm to me. The other thing is that all interesting animals have been taken except arthropods, but many people are asking for feline/canine races aswell. So thought about it, and gonna throw here this absolutely crazy idea I had. Name: Frost Spiders (working on it) Physiology: They appear to be humanoid creatures, with four limbs and a head that resembles strangely the one of a sabertooth tiger, but they have a completely different origin. The mandibles resemble long fangs, the horns on the top of the head look like ears, and their eight have vertical cat pupils. They did evolve from spider-like creatures, and the proof of that are four, small vestigial arms on their chest, also the patches of fur on the head and body are actually similar to the hair of a Tarantula. Lore: Their lore is similar to various ancient barbaric or nomadic cultures, but they do have enstabilished cities aswell. The food consists mostly of meat, fish, both raw and cooked. They make the strongest, most spiced beverages in the galaxy. While mining under the ice, they discovered the ancient tecnology of a lost civilization, frozen and well preserved on their planet for thousand of years. They managed to rebuild the tecnology, and then use their starships to explore the galaxy to find new, suitable planets for their expansion. While they are not particulary aggressive, they do have expansionistic tendencies. Rather than destroying the civilizations they find, they occupy them and absorb their culture. Personality They possess a strong sense of honor and pride, but aren't arrogant, the opposite, they are very humble when they compare themselves with Apex and Humans, seeing their technological progress they made without any help. They enjoy drinking, and telling stories about their heroic feats. They are known to be a little naive, or even lazy or sleepy sometimes, but are also loyal and brave, and never run away from the enemy. Interesting concept. I like it a lot! It's very unique and peaks my interest. I think that it would be an awesome race if you were to flesh it out a bit with some culture and lore. Awesome sketches by the way.
Getting home today, got the inspiration, and I'm gonna redo the entire thing. Still have no name for the race though.
I have no idea if this is going to work... I want to make something unique but with it's own style. I think they should be more like Mongols or barbarians from roman times rather than medieval vikings, so that they aren't too similar to the Glitch, but still not savages like Floran. Anyway I need the time to work on this, also not sure if the design stands out enough, not enough spider perhaps. Also that's extremely racist bro.
If i could makr a suggestion. Why not give them all 8 limbs, 4legs and 4 arms, with a big or small butt coming out of them and give them a native american-ish culture. They are not savages but they are also not mediveal. Just some ideas Edit: After i finished i also thought you could give them a southern hospitality kind of thing. Oh oh or maybe the monks or people that live on tops of moutains!
I have little time for this right now, but soon... Everything is quite outdated. I wrote some new lore and got some sketches, somewhere. More or less, Avian are native americans. I decided my race has small arms under the clothes, but unusable, like trex arms. There is a big problem with giving them something like a spider abdomen though. And personally it would look king of ugly. Anyway, they would be a rather cheerful race. They expecially enjoy drinking and feasting. I came to the idea that tather than being just barbarians should be a group of different cultures led by a single king. Mongolians, vikings, celts etc... Each set would be inspired by the different cultures, and takes the name to the different land they inhabit. Like: forest, mountain, steppe, tundra etc... SImilar to the Hylotl. The lore is that they used to be enslaved by a powerful civilization, but one day, a single leader, using the tecnology he discovered under the ice, managed to unite the very different tribes and together destroyed the enemies. The ingame plot is that the current king mysteriously died, and now the different tribes are enemy again. I think I'll have this thread closed so I'll post a new one. It will be called "Meet the Felaran" or something.
