Bug/Issue Friend's game crashing after intro

I gifted my friend Stardew because I love it and he's wanted to play it for a while now so you can understand how disappointed he is to find that it's not working. I found a guy on steam who appeared to have the same problem but never updated the listing when they found a solution https://steamcommunity.com/app/413150/discussions/1/152392549361995553/
