Hey, I'm using the DRM-Free GOG linux multiplayer version and I noticed that the friend invite code is missing there - I have to connect with my friend via direct IP to play.

Is this issue related to that the GOG multiplayer is DRM-free? If so, maybe adding an option to log into your GOG account and thus unlock the friendcode feature would be cool? Thank you for answers!

The Steam version is also DRM free. But, the friend code feature uses your friends list. So, you'd need to run Steam/GOG Galaxy.
The reason it's not available on GOG is because, GOG doesn't support Linux.
Their Galaxy client is only for Windows and Macs.

It's also why Beta access was delayed on GOG. They had to setup an alternative system for users; because their DRM was interfering. - https://www.reddit.com/r/gog/comments/8in9yr/i_seriously_regret_buying_stardew_valley_on_gog/

And, per the official SDV blog post: https://stardewvalley.net/stardew-valley-v1-3-beta/

So......the underlying issue is that friends codes rely on steam / gog client APIs to work correctly? That is.....rather sad to hear, as such clients should be optional :( Thank you for the answer, though!

EDIT: I mean, I get the delayed GOG Linux Beta Release as GOG Galaxy doesn't exist for the client, thus the beta had to be added as an extra file to download. But, think about the multiplayer going out of beta and the GOG Linux users still missing the friends code feature
